Published on 02/07/11 at 05:26What characteristics have motivated your choice?
I needed an interface max 2 inputs + MIDI ports.
For what purpose?
Ben to record audio and MIDI with Ableton Live Intro (which "supports" that up to 2 entries of registration). To store more songs you have to buy Live 8 ... which is not expected anytime soon.
What is your config?
MacBook Pro 13 "CPU - 2.66 GHz - RAM 4 GB - HDD 256 Gb.
With which instruments or systems (console, preamp, DTD ...) and you use the connection with what?
A mix of old table Berhinger ... beginning to be well shaped ...
UTILIZATION
The drivers are stable?
Ben is on a Mac ... so it runs smoothly
They are often updated?
I just bought it
What software do you use most often?
Ableton Live Intro
What latency you get?
There is a "bypass" monitor avoiding latency. I think it turns to 4.8 microseconds.
How many tracks do you manage to record / playback simultaneously? ...
2 to the Registration
Dunno for reading. Not been limited so far
GETTING STARTED
Installation is it not working?
Nickel chromium. Mac always nickel
Have you experienced any incompatibilities?
not
The general configuration is easy?
Yes and no. I do not find this well-designed interface. The small buttons at the back are difficult to access ... And then adjusting the frequency of sampling must be done before you plug in USB ... A little damage. And also how 96Khz: ben must choose either to save or to read. So instead of a "selling point" rather than a real feature
The manual is clear and sufficient? ...
Yes! Without more, a manual that explains a little while
OVERALL OPINION
For how long have you been using it?
1 month
What thing do you like most/least about it?
THE "+":
- Sound Quality
- Full connectivity
- The "switch" Monitor ... who can "cheat" with latency. Ok, the sound we record is the one between direct audio inputs ... but it can be in place ... and playing with her afterwards
Did you try many other models before getting this one?
No. And it is a "mistake" ... Coming to buy my MacBook Pro 13 ", I needed an audio interface soon ... In the store, they had neither the Presonus Profire or M-Audio Fire is something that interested me. .. these 2 latter being beyond the 200 € the "promotion" to 199 € seemed like a good deal. Edirol-Roland is an excellent brand.
What is your opinion about the value for the price?
Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice? ...
Yes and no! this machine works beautifully ... but I was looking for a Firewire interface (since there are only 2 USB ports on the MacBook Pro) ... but they were not at the store in question ...
Having said that it fulfills its job. Record audio and midi ... and I have no regrets individuals ...
The product quality is good. Metal housing - robust. Quality connectors and buttons portards and equally correct. Very little wind, no stray individuals ... The connector can connect well fournier correctly what you want ... either "live" in the interface or via a mixing desk ...
The quality / price is more than appreciable.
One day, well I probably will migrate to Live 8, where another interface more "powerful" will also be useful.
But one thing at a time! I think it's a very good buy for a first interface and / or use "lonely" ... Although the group I started pretty well now, I play alone with Live ... so I do not need, now more than 2 inputs and 2 outputs.
