I bought this unit in Holland because i dont earn a lot of money, but still wanted to have many possibilities, i payed roughly 120 pounds for it.

This 'guitarport' has so many possibilities, that can even grow because line6 has made it possible that you can download new updates, effects, and styles of playing.. You can basicly press on a button for example 'Jimi hendrix' and it puts the effect that Jimi uses to play with, so you can play just like him.

What i dont like that because you have to play through you're computer speakers, you cant just take the 'Guitarport' and give a gig somewhere, you have to play at a computer.. But the price makes up for everything, considering a normal Stom…

But the price makes up for everything, considering a normal Stompbox (single effect box) has a price of about 100 pounds.

The construction well its a little box with on one side an socket for you're guitar cord, on the other side a socket for the withbrought usb cable. The quality of the unit is super, only if you have got bad quality speakers attached to you're pc, then the problem wont be the guitarport, but you're speakers.

Overall the Guitarport produced by Line6 is an outstanding product. Everybody can learn from it, even the professionals, and for the beginners it opens a new world of infinite possibilities..

I bought this item because I use the line 6 pod pro with my live rig, so insted of moving all that heavy gear to and from band rehersal I bought this to keep in the studio. I paid $99.00 + tax when it was on sale at guitar center.

I was suprised to find all that it offered to its online members. I wanted a line 6 so that the guitar in my studio demos would sound the same as the rehersals and live shows. You can also download any guitar sound that you like, line 6 has a tone library where you can enter an artist's name or a band name and you get their effect settings and lessons if you need them.

This unit is small and durable, it has a volume knob right on top that makes it easy to adjust quickly.

The bottom line is, line six at this time is the leader in guitar amp modeling.
everyone is trying to emulate the warm, harmonic-rich sound of a class A tube amp, the line 6 engineers have done a great job. I use (like many other artists) line 6 effects with a tube amp. you can hear my sound at my website 16 bit sound.

I purchased the Line 6 Guitar Port at a local music store for $99. I bought the unit after reading a glowing review of the unit's stomp box effects and tube-amp modeling in a computer geek magazine. I play primarily acoustic guitar music and have no desire (or cash) to buy all the effects boxes, amps, etc. needed to "rock-out" but I still like to make noise occasionally.

I can alter my guitar's sound with an amazing array of effects - all of which are nearly perfectly rendered. As an added bonus the unit also allows me to record my playing directly to my PC. I have yet to explore the Guitar Port website but for a small monthly fee they offer lots of extras.

As an earlier reviewer noted, the system requirements are very specific. Before you purchase the Guitar Port be SURE to read them carefully. You shouldn't have a problem with any quality PC built within the last two years. I am currently running the Guitar Port software on a Windows XP machine with an AMD XP2400 processor and Soundblaster Live and have no compatibility issues what so ever. The unit connects to a USB port on my PC and another line goes from the unit's headphone jack to the line-in jack on my soundcard.

The construction of the unit is simple and solid. All of the many tweaks to the sound are accomplished with mouse clicks on-screen. The only dial on the Guitar Port itself is for volume. The bottom is equipped with punchouts to semi-permanently mount the box, if need be.

I feel the Line 6 Guitar Port is well worth the relatively small investment.

I purchased this product from musiciansfriend.com for $170.00 plus shipping.

What I like about this product is that for its price, the sounds it can make are pretty awesome.

I purchased it because I was trying to record loops for the sofware Acid Pro and Cakewalk, but because I was using my laptop's mike line, I ended up having too many unwanted noices. I thought that by connecting to my laptop through a USB port, I would eradicate all the unwanted noices.

This product did get rid of all the unwanted noices I was having.

I have Windows XP and it worked fine.

The problem I ended up having however, are:

    1. The Line 6 Guitar Port software is not compatible with Cakewalk or Acid Pro. So, I still can't record the loops I wanted to record in the first place.

    2. For some reason, when I connect my laptop to my amp everything goes perfect, but when I connect any of my pedals between my laptop and the amp, I lose all the sound. I thought that maybe the problem was that I had a bad cable or a bad battery, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I have no idea why this is happening or how to solve it.

    3. Other programs, like antivirus or screen savers, tend to disrupt the sound quality and when they use too much memory or something, undesireble fuzz and grrrrrr sounds come through.

It is made out of good quality and it seems to be a very durable unit if not abused.

Great sound, but it is useless for recording loops for Cakewalk or Acid Pro.

To do what I originally wanted to do, I still have to purchase a recording machine, such as a Korg Pandora PXR4 4-track digital recording studio. Which costs around $300 plus tax and shipping.

With that machine, I hope to be able to record the Acid or Cakewalk drums and base loops on one track, and voices and other instruments through other tracks.

However, when I ran this download, it was just like the Disappointed Musician review -it failed the XP logo test! Line 6 had sold me a line of crap, so I selected the driver's option button NOT to proceed with the program - IT INSTALLED THE DAMNED DRIVER ANYWAY! At least it didn't ignore my order to uninstall. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM IS WINDOWS XP!

    - Nicely designed, very compact device
    - Beautiful candyapple red painted finish.

Since I don't have a good driver to install and use this device, I cannot testify firsthand for other features.

    - Bad compatibility
    - Blatant dishonesty (or amazingly sloppy software engineering) where compatibility is concerned
    - driver installation software disregarded my abort command

For the time since XP has been the mainstream for home computers, you would expect a company like Line 6 to make that system a priority. Not only was this not the case, but their web update link was hard to find, and then turned out to be false. If I knew what I was looking for, I would have been able to shop around online. If you know of a similar product, try that one instead!

As stated before, I like the physical design and overall look. It looks very cool, it's small enough to be manageable, has effective traction to keep it from sliding over edges, and gives overall the impression of high quality construction. Unfortuneatly, this makes it no more than a nice decoration without competent software support!

It's a nice looking, nicely made gadget. It's made by Line 6, who did not put nearly as much into the driver support as they did with the paint job. Without good drivers, it's a hell of an expensive doorstop, and now the company disregards the importance of all Windows XP users. They must be living in the f*cking Twilight Zone! Since I can't get past the driver installation, the rating below means nothing, so I'll leave at the lowest.

$169.99 online (local vendor in San Antonio was out of stock, but quoted a price of $149.99 which I think was a error)

Easy setup. Works as advertised. Fabulous effects. Unsurpassed learning tool. Best thing I have purchased. Buy this, you don't need an amp nor processor. Absolutely fantastic.

    Nothing

    Excellent

Highly recommended. A "10" on a five point scale!

Versatile unit. VERY helpful for beginners (like me). Plenty of amp models to chose from, great learning tool. Online features are excellent! New riffs, tracks and songs every week.

OK stand alone but "Guitar Port online" ($7.00 per month)is where you want to be.

Excellent, heavy so it stays put.

Good value, get many pedals/effects for the price of one. Installs easy-easy setup. Buy one to play with....

    Yeah, well made

Apart from the driver issues and a proper instructions for recording software, it follows the success of the Pod 2 very well, a good addition for any player, and reasonably priced. would get 5 out of 5 if not for the drivers and info.

I played the thing for 3 hours just messing with the amp settings. I subscribed to the online service and I like the news, the online lessons, tones, tracks. I learned to play Tush by ZZ-Top in a couple of hours. Best guitar money I ever spent.

Some say it was hard to set-up, but my 7 year old figured it out - so it can't be that bad. It will not work with the old AMD K6 processor, but any newer machine will work. Occasionally locks-up the computer (but this is a bargain/bargain basement computer). A reboot cleans it up. It sounds best through headphones, sounds horrible through the PC speakers and we have not figured out how to hook it up to the PA/Amp with no feedback. I thing the Line 6 POD is the tool for that. You need to download the latest updates before installing to be sure it works with your computer.

A software CD and interface unit are provided. The unit is plastic, but weighted to stay put. There is one big volume dial on the interface unit. All other controls are managed by your mouse on your computer. All cords are provided to hook the unit up to your computer, although you will need a Y jack if you want to listen to it through your PC speakers, headphones and your guitar cord.

OK, I am not a professional musician. I doodle on the guitar. This thing is great for what I need. I spend an hour in the basement, I am jamming with ZZ-Top, SRV, Hendrix, Stray Cats at ear splitting volume on the headphones, while my wife and kids are sleaping. Perfect.

The CD player function works OK, but you cannot modify any effects settings during play. Also, the lower portion of the screen is dedicated to advertising their internet "jam along" stuff. Seems like that display space could be used much better for displaying relevant effects information, etc. How is it that you can download effects presets for the POD, but Line6 doesn't offer that for the Guitar Port unless you join that monthly service? Poor strategy. Overall, this product seems like a good idea at the right price... but executed poorly.

Construction seems fine. The volume knob is a rather silly design.

Unless Line6 offers a significant revision to the current product, I'd recommend getting some other product for home studio use. If you do want to give it a try, be sure you can return it for a full refund.

The controls are very simple to use. And for someone who has never had much money to spend on music gear - this thing (like all Line 6 products) is a god send! I have never heard what a Mesa sounds like, except on the car stereo. My gear is that Squire strat and Kramer Baretta through some effects to a Fender Deville 2x12.

There is nothing I don't like about this unit, besides one thing: Line 6 should offer this baby with more boutique items such as Soldano, other Mesa's besides the dual rectifier, Bogner, newer and older Fender amps, Randall, Hughes and Kettner, Laney and on and on - basically a smorgasbord of all the great amps that the majority of guitarists like me will never know or have the pleasure of playing.
On the same note, I know that Line 6 offers the Pod 2 and Pod XT that plugs in by USB (so I guess that will have to be my next purchase).

The contruction is solid and seems very well built, but I would be very afraid to drop it. Nothing is unbreakable.

I think the Guitar Port is a kick ass practise/Jam the F##K Out tool. I do not recommend it for gigging, but I would for recording.

Line 6 has got a great thing going! Keep up the good work!

More amps and effects combos then you'll ever need. You can pick your amp of choice set it up like you like it and even pick the speaker set up your looking for two 2-12"s ,cabinet ect.

I really have nothing negative to say about the line 6 guitar port.
I've been using it for about 6 months and it's everything I expected and more, well worth the 170 bucks and the $8.00 dollars a month for online connection.

Well put together, same quality I've seen with most Line 6 products.

You should check that you have at least 128MB RAM and 40MB free storage so everything runs smooth.I am using Windows XP and it works very well.
If you don't have buddys to jam with or you just want a cool way to practice the Line 6 guitar port is your ticket.
If only I had this when I was learning to play guitar it would have sped things up alot and been a more fun then thumbing threw Mel Bay books(no offense to Mel).
A great buy just make sure your computer has what it needs, check the web sit for exact requirements.

    Nothing

This unit is not set up for Windows xp. The website offers a free download for the new drivers, but it does not work. The computer freaks out when Guitar Port is installed. It took me more than 30 days to get it checked out, so I am out the money. .

The construction of the unit is the best part of it. It is clean and beautiful, well made.

I would not recommend anyone buying this unless you have windows me, which in itself is unstable

No way to switch the patches without actually going to the computer and clicking on something.
No trial for the online use. (I really dig this thing without the service.)
No mac support at this time. (I have a powerbook and would love to show up to rehersal with twelve ounces of gear instead of an 80lb. rack and my Marshall 4x12 bottom.)

More sturdy than it appears. Looks like something from the 80's TV Mini-Series the Martian Chronicles.

Just as a great amp (or a half dozen amp) and distortion that blows my GP-100 out the door I love this thing. It's the best piece of guitar equiptment I have ever purchased for the price; hands down.

Then I returned it a week later, after I had finally connected through their online service.

The amp/cab modeling bit is pretty neat.

The "tracks" are nothing more than drum loops and bass lines (for the most part, there are some actual songs you can play along with if you're REALLY REALLY REALLY into Jimi Hendrix), which ought to come free with the unit, but no, you have to pay 8 bucks a month to download them. And not just 8 bucks a month for a couple months until you have all you want, no, when you cancel the service you lose can't use your downloaded tracks anymore, so basically without the online service ALL you get is the amp/cab modeling.

Complicated setup, I had to plug the guitar into the unit, connect the unit to the computer with a USB cable, connect the unit to the computer (again) with a stereo audio cable, and THEN connect the unit to my stereo (use as audio for my computer.) Why not just plug it in and have the sound come out the soundcard?

Plastic construction, volume knob, 1 LED light, non-slip rubber pad on the bottom, 1 mono guitar input (front), USB output (back), l/r RCA outputs (back), headphone/one-eighth-inch stereo output (back). Again, seems overly complicated. Would do just fine to have input, USB output, and do away with the 2 kinds of audio output (just have the audio come out of the soundcard through whatever source you obviously already use if you're buying music software/computer products). The non-slip rubber pad works just fine. The big black knob on the face of the unit acts as a volume control. Whoopety-doo! I've got volume control on the stero that I use for my computer audio, as well as 2 or 3 levels of volume control in the computer itself.

Gimmick. GEE-EYE-EM-EM-EYE-CEE-KAY gimmick! It looks real neat, it sounds pretty neat, but it doesn't do anything without the online service and it doesn't do very much even with it. Okay so it's got the amp modeling, but there's boxes that do that, there's software that does that, either of which is probably cheaper, and there's no reason you should need BOTH. Why the unit at all, you could plug into the sound card and have the software do all the modeling (it probably does anyway). To repeat it's a gimmick, and I was reeled in by it, but luckily Guitar Center has a satisfaction guarantee and I got my money back.

Most of the guitar tracks available (a handfull only) do have tabs. Its PDF type tabs. Ha ! What dinasour technology is this. Pls check out Isong products for what computerised tabs should do.

The hardware is nice durable looking. Don't know why I need a hardware just to use this Tone Software. Other Tone Software just need me to plug my Guitar to the Computer Mic. Is sale gimmick by Line 6.

For a Tone Software, I think I would pay like $49.90 for it but not $180. For the Online tracks ... most disappointing. Maybe if Line 6 work on it for 2 or 3 years, it could be good enough. But by then, another better product will be out. Unless you are looking for a Tone Software, don't buy this.

I paid $179 locally in Austin.

The GuitarPort gave me trouble-free installation on my Windows 2000 PC, a terrific user interface, and sounds that are wildly better and more varied than I expect.

I get no clicks or pops, just tons of great sounds that are putting a serious dent in my schedule. I haven't had this much fun with a guitar in years.

The latency is very low -- undetectable to me. For a USB-based system, that's remarkable.

I sympathize with the other reviewer who had trouble with his 400MZ PC, but the GuitarPort has performed flawlessly on my 1GZ ASUS/Athlon motherboard. A lot of other USB-based audio gear has been troublesome on my PC, so the GuitarPort seems brillian…

The GuitarPort doesn't have an ASIO driver, and wasn't really designed with home-recording in mind.

Line6 is working on an ASIO driver, but I'm not hopeful since the unit periodically takes 40% of my CPU. That may not leave enough horsepower for a good ASIO package like Cubase.

I also have a fast laptop, so I'll probably run the GuitarPort on that and feed the audio to my PC, where Cubase will run. Clunky, but it should work.

    Excellent and amusing.

Terrific sounds and a low price -- nice job, Line6.

I did a lot of reading at Line 6's web site. What I didn't know is that Line 6 lists the hardware requirements on two separate pages. One page is *much* more detailed than the other. Unfortunately, this is the one I didn't read before purchasing the product.

Save yourself a headache and make sure that your hardware supports this product before you make the purchase.

Unit is pretty simple and appears to be well-constructed.

Make sure your hardware is up to the task; otherwise, the cost of this product will be substantially higher.

The least is that for MP3 files of artists on the site, you have to pay, so 8 / 10 (because the version 2 software is really great and I board find tracks on emule).

    GETTING STARTED

Version 2 offers many opportunities, in fact I think we can simulate and s'approvher very very near all the sounds! Very good acoustic simulation, very good quality Audible. I have an AthlonXP 1700 with 512 RAM, integrated AC'97 sound card (driver and Vinyl Deck) and a basic electric guitar and I have no pb latency.
Rating: 8 / 10, I have not tested it on a Hi-Fi with its very strong.

I bought this thing ... ;) For two reasons:
1 / fed and sounds of AmpliTube to be too random image utiliss.
2 / JAM for the function / LESSONS gives me great pleasure and make me work plans.

    BUT ....
I board sound card no lights, no more than PC bulbs (if I invent ca, I'm a hit! ).... So yes, it does not sound from an amp lamps, I specify that for crtins say yeah ... but anyway, there's no lights, is crap .... no it's not shit, it's The very good .... modlisations electronic!

    GETTING STARTED

I repeat ... we have to look a little on the set for good sound, but it is relatively easy to find your need, for my part, I am very satisfied.

    OVERALL OPINION

The most stunning is the jam with pieces that are picked up on the site of line6 (7.5 $ / month) but it's pretty cool to find themselves on Jamer Hendrix or SRV or whoever you want ... The guitar sound is automatically adapted to the songs, a kind of automation (adjustable) Properties adjusts sound of the guitar for solos / rhythm ... even the sound level of your instrument is good enough "mixquot, and all leaves a good impression, for me it is really useful in the sense that I work the plans that I like.
The courses are fairly basic but not all take, and then the little extra it records that, with a little knowledge of English gives you information on the group, the songs ... well I like my ca ....

The 2nd good thing was the rle of prampli stro offered by the GuitarPort, it lacks an expression pedal ...

Price: 160 euros for stuff + 80/ans for "online" = fun, not paradise, just fun.

Another plus: the evolution through the upgrade on the line6 site, even when it's cool to be able to evolve his gear, I do that with my AIM RP2000;)

Conclusion: Positive! I would do this choice fermsa eyes if you know what lon wants, and that's the first product that I line6 owns and trs I'm happy!

RCA connection cable / jack 3.5 sound card. Stereo sound (it's not so common).
All this takes about 150MB on disk. A straw.
    Regular updates on line6.com
Try also: RiffTracker. A tool suite includes an interesting rhythm generator to record a quick idea of components.
I do not put that 9 / 10 because access to presets via the menu is a bit tedious for those like me who have more than 100 presets stored ...

    GETTING STARTED

Although electronic, the effects are really realistic and mostly bluffing.
Metallica big sound / Ramstein to funk Pat Metheny, almost everything is.
Used with bass and guitar. For the bass it's okay no more. I even tried to voice it's enough for a demo but not good enough to prod the course.
Apart from the many presets already come standard, can be added (for the modest sum of $ 49) packs of models on the Line6 site as well as user presets. Even better for those who have a client peer-to-peer (like eMule), there are lots of presets made by users like "Riff Master of Puppets", "Satch Boogie Solo" and so on. Some are really close to the original. Besides, taking time to tweak it's quite easy to approach a specific sound.
The presets in question weighs peanuts (about 40kb each)

    OVERALL OPINION

I use this little gem since 2 months after using for a long time, and succession: a Zoom 707 II, a V-AMP2, a plethora of pedals Ibanez Boss and ... There's no photo. I do not even understand how one can still use a Metal Zone pedal type even on a good amp.
Warning: in my opinion, this is only useful if you are the only home-studio.
I bought mine on Ebay USD and I paid $ 110 used (about 85 euros) including postage. No wear on this type of product.
To buy the closed eyes. Personally, I would resume the same.

The only problem I had was my laptop (Asus A6). Well, OK, it's not planned for, with its multimedia chipset? USB bad timing, his stall, crachouillis ... So, with my friend, we examined above: a hub, powered or not, ... nada, that clicks! So, in short, we tried with Cubase SX, by keeping the Asio Guitar Port, then in there, It's the miracle! To you the rhythm, the solo, the response to solo, the casseroles & Co. While reading the audio tracks, of course. So simple, but it had to think!
Not explained anywhere, so that 9.

    GETTING STARTED

Effects, it changes me a good old Yamaha FX 550. In addition, version 2 brought an acoustic amp, a treat for my Ovation nylon. Otherwise, my Vigier Passion 2 love it, like my Apex uncommon.
I regret it is impossible to get a low (this is not recommended, unless you want to grill the chipset!) So, we should sell it to buy the new Tone Port of the mark that is all? Okay, if not need, well ... A DI box for my bass Apex enough. But it is impossible to upgrade the chipset for low? while 9!

    OVERALL OPINION

I've had 2 or even 3 years! It is very practical in the studio, his sound is chosen, there is agreement before taking, and presto! In addition, we can reduce the breath of the guitar ...

For cons, the least? I just hope they're going to fix it one day:
No table-Change Program, which prohibits the use almost live. Ultimately, it responds by changing the amp head, but it is not the intention. Yet with a laptop, a pedal, it would at all! Well, OK, sounds are compatible with échageables in POD XT, but it fo have both! Why so much hatred? Go, M'sieu Linecisse still un'tit effort, sioupli? Otherwise, I drop the note.

But ultimately, I do not regret my purchase.
