Epiphone Explorer limited edition-2013 Reissue Epiphone by Gibson of the same name, designed by Brendon Small, the creator of the cartoon Dethlok.
This explore technically and aesthetically based Gibson Explorer model 2 produced from 1979 to 1983 finish is neat with nice bindings on the neck and body of the guitar and a silverburst finish. The body and neck are mahogany, the resin key to mimic ebony (as in Gibson for that matter!).

UTILIZATION

The handle is of type Explorer slim tapper 60's with low action. It expands gradually approaching the body unlike a Lespaul or SG I think.
Contrary to what might suggest the shape, ergonomics are good and I immediately felt at ease with her. If we play standing, head however tends to lean towards the ground. Provide a wide strap that will not slip on the shoulder!
The sound is fantastic and I wonder what we would get better with the USA version that costs 3-4 times the price ...

SOUNDS

Unlike the marketing and communication accompanying the release of this special edition, the Thunderhorse is not a metal guitar with splitables vintage pickups (prefer him in this case the 1984 EX version). It's really a super versatile guitar for rock and classic hard rock. The clean sounds are beautiful as well as double than single coils (a missing option US version). The distorted sounds are identical to a Les Paul Standard with a beautiful definition. Finally, the sustain is amazing.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for two weeks to replace my Leduc D3. A € 420 on sale, the price / quality ratio is exceptional, beyond my expectations ... to be followed.
