Made in the USA, 22 frets, 2 humbucker 1 500T for the bridge and a 496R in the neck.
A three position switch and three knobs, 2 volume and tone.
ATTENTION: I am not sure of the details, it is not easy to find. I referred to this address: http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Explorer/Gibson-USA/Explorer/Specs.aspx

UTILIZATION

The neck is very pleasant, quite fine, it is a highway!
It weighs weight are good but must be the right thing.
Access to treble is good.
The sound is good.

SOUNDS

I'm punk rock, and I appreciate this mixture (metal / rock) of sound. It is true that the original pickups instead gives a color metal. I changed the bridge pickup for a seymour duncan, undeniably the best in terms of quality. I got a more low fat, with more high medium that brought out the metallic sound of the strings (like the stratosphere to give an idea). I decided to return to the source by restoring its original microphone, may be of lower quality but more in keeping with the spirit Explorer .... it is a matter of taste ....

OVERALL OPINION

I've had it about 10 years, I have an Epiphone SG standard and an Explorer that I do not know the details, maybe a 79. The standard is much easier to play with a thinner handle.
The SG is pleasant in sound but this is not the same, wider neck, rich in medium low / medium. It is more distinctive rock than metal.

I like its ergonomics, and sound. For the price it is already of good quality although there have above!
Anyway I have never regretted my choice!
