Petra Strings Legato is different from other conventional orchestral string library for it allows for slightly delaying the attack for the different sections, randomly or manually from 1 to 3.5ms, a feature that helps humanizing the instruments and give them their true arabic character, specially when played live. Findasound also maintain the slight detune between the section, another particularity with arabic strings.
Petra Strings Legato features double-bass, two cello and two violin/viola sections with 7 articulations (keyswitches): normal, tremolo, trills half “looped”, trills whole “looped”, trills half short, trills whole short and pizzicato. Each section also includes volume, pan, transpose and EQ controls and supports MIDI automation (MIDI Learn included). Round robins are available for the attack and a randomize option allows for bowing variations independently for each section. You can also adjust the attack and release volume.
You can choose between mono or poly modes and enable/disable legato. Last, portamento is available via velocity and a dedicated 10-option time/speed control is included. Findasound also added a reverb with real room impulse responses. Note that you can store presets via a Snapshot system in Kontakt.
Petra Strings Legato requires the full version of Kontakt 5.4.1 and later. It is available for $169 at www.findasound.net.
