hi guys
im having issues running my focusrite 6i6
installation no problem at all
but when i set it all up in cubase
i can hear myself double latency
so i went to try and figure out what it was
so i found out something but i dont know how to fix it
so my controlpanel says
mic 1
mic 2
daw 1+2
daw 3+4
when i mute all except mic 1 i can hear myself
pretty good no latency at all 5ms
clean and dry no vst
when i add a reverb on that mic nothing happends still dry and clean
now when i unmute all and only use the daw 1+2 volume
i hear myself but now i can also hear the vst
but now i have latency (and no it isent the vst)
when i put the vst off i can still hear the latency
so in short
mic 1 solo no latency clean and dry vst not hearable
daw 1+2 solo vst latency with or without vst latency stays
im running cubase
with a scarlett 6i6 (newly bought no second hand)
on a windows 7 pc i5 3,1GHZ , 8ddr3 ramm
240 GB SSD
2x 2TB WD harddisks
Asus mainboard
can someone please help me out here cause its driving me nuts now !
thansk so much !

Hey,
Latency is something you have because you listen to the inputs ( mic) and the daw out ( monitoring)
If you like to hear the vst effects you have no other choice than use the daw monitoring.
The latency can change by changing the buffer settings.
Perhaps can lower the latency timing but you always have some delay due the analog / digital conversion and back from digital to analog..

Hi angelie
I had a motu audio express and that worked fine dident had anything to do with daw 1-2-3-4 and so on
Just added a fx in cubase and worked nicely
So i know it can be done
And yea latency you will always have a little bit almost unnoticeable BUT
I have my control panel at 1 ms
And cannot change anything in cubase for buffers
Everything is popping and making cracking noises caused by the 1 ms
With the motu i had 10ms easy

You can set the buffer size in the mix control software from 1ms up to 20ms ( if i'm correct.)
Perhaps that will work for you.
But if it is making noise than your system / focuserite can not keep up.. you need a bigger buffer
- Angelie
Edit: 10ms on your motu... Than it had a bigger buffer setting, try setting you control panel setting to 10
Perhaps that will work for you.

I did
When i set it higher in focus his control panel
The higher the more latency
The lower the less latency the more cracks and pops i get
When i used the motu
I had it at 10ms and i had no delay at all
But the motu had no daw monitoring function like focusrite

Then perhaps simon or dave of focusrite can help you with this.
I own a 18i20 and never tried to change the settings because i never needed to. What i can do is try it out in a hour when done with my project and see how low i can go.
The rest is for the people of Focusrite.
So Dave / Simon what you think about this?

Good afternoon,
It sounds as though you're monitoring yourself twice, once through the Scarlett, and again through the DAW.
If you only want to hear yourself through the DAW, and so monitor plugins live whilst you're tracking, then please select the 'Routing Preset' of DAW Tracking in Mix Control. With this setting, you will need to make sure that the input monitor on the channel you're recording to in your DAW is ON.
This should now mean you have no 'echo' created from monitoring the direct input as well as the DAW input signal, and managing latency and buffer size will be done as normal.
If I am misunderstanding you at all, perhaps it would be easier for you to contact us via our live chat function on our website here:
http://focusrite.com/answerbase/contact
From here, perhaps we could access your setup using Team Viewer (http://teamviewer.com) in order to try and understand your needs better.
Hope this helps

My thoughts exactly.
Thank you Simon / Focuserite for all the things you do for all the people

Hi simon
it dident work
3ms and still can hear myself delay/latency
and still cracking and popping
Really at the point of trowing it out the window
making me feel never have replaced the motu
