My opinion is about 2 Octaver Boss of '80 (Japan made it) that I owned and played a lot.
Use: super simple: three knobs: treble octaves, octaves, and the mix of the two in the signal.
Sounds: perfect, great set, very typical (sound "Boss" of the 80's, quite meaty, dense).
I've played with different guitars (Charvel, Strat 'japan, Gretsch) and different combo (Peavey, Engl, Laney), these effects always sound great.
I acquired other Octaver since these sounds and then I miss. In fact, my two Octaver Boss had fatal internal trouble ...
