The CME XKey will soon go wireless

CME has launched on Indiegogo a crowdfunding campaign for the Bluetooth version of their XKey 25 and 37 MIDI keyboards.

Called XKey Air, these new keyboards have the exact same functionality as the XKey wired versions, but can connect wirelessly via Bluetooth. The USB connection did not disappear, it will power the keyboard when the onboard battery dies and will serve for firmware updates.

You’ll find on the XKey Air the octave transpose, pitch bend, modulation and sustain buttons. New on this model is the addition of an on/off switch which is particularly useful to avoid battery drain. On the other hand, the MIDI and sustain/expression inputs available on the XKey 37 will disappear on the Air version.

The XKey Air will be available in 25 and 37 keys with velocity and aftertouch support. Both models will be compatible with iOS and Android devices as well as Mac computers (Windows compatibility is planned).

Final US pricing will be $199 for the XKey Air 25 and $299 for the XKey Air 37, but during the Indiegogo campaign, you can pre-order yours for discounted prices with software packs.
