    beautiful tone

    Alvarez PD80SCPublished on 05/30/12 at 22:40
The Alvarez PD80SC is a beautifully crafted guitar, that has a solid mahogany back to it. When purchasing this guitar (if buying it new) you will love everything about it. It just feels right when you are holding it. This acoustic or electric guitar has a built in chromatic tuner as well and an adjustable eq and notch filter to control feedback. When they made this guitar they really had the player in mind in stead of just creating “another” typical guitar. They made sure this was going to be one that players of all genres would want to have in their collection.

    UTILIZATION

It has a Dreadnought style of body with 12 string. The back and sides come in solid mahogany and I must say it looks amazing. Not to mention the Rosewood finger board and rosewood bridge. The regular color tone of the guitar is a natural finish. It seems to be like a classic looking guitar at first glance.

    SOUNDS

Sounds are great, I was really happy with the way it sounded. We where able to get a great tone when using it and we used it for a few years. Just recently one of our members went to go back and purchase this same model (pd80sc) and no one had any in stock. So either they are discontinued or just sold out.

    OVERALL OPINION

Overall, this guitar is worth every penny. The price of it was pretty decent to me wasn’t too much but I do wish it was cheaper when it first came out. I don’t recommend getting this if you are a new player though. If you are a new player I recommend just getting a cheap guitar to start on. But if you know what you are doing, there is no need to wait. Try to get your hands on one of these or the upgraded model.

Acoustic guitarist, percussionist, and vocalist. Classic country, rock, folk.

Seminole Music, a local music store here in the Tampa Bay area. $500 for the guitar and an Alvarez hard shell case.

Beautiful looking, playing, and sounding guitar. Plays, looks, and sounds as well or better than some guitars costing 3-4 times more. Solid engleman spruce top, wish Taylor and Martin offered this. Gold tuners, abalone rosette and headstock logo, as well as 12th fret inlay. I like the plain rosewood fingerboard.

Plastic nut, saddle, and bridge pins. I would like to see them use bone or Tusq. It still sounds like a dream straigth from the factory.

Excellent. Solid Engleman spruce top, solid mahogany back, laminated mahogany sides. Rosewood bridge and fingerboard. Nice light wood trim and zigzag back. Gold tuners. The electronics are very good (System 600 MkII).

Totally awesome guitar for the money. You could only find something that looks, plays, and sounds better for thousands of dollars.
