SOUNDS

Finally I found that was with my Seagull S6 cutaway with the quantum 2, much like that with a scraper and microphones phew I wanted an amp height.

OVERALL OPINION

Update, 12/05/08 after two years of use

80-watt combo (or 160-watt depending on the measurement method)

Solid-state amp (tube amps are rare in acoustic amps)

Comprehensive connections: two XLR mic inputs, two 1/4" jack inputs, RCA connections for effects, DI output I wish it was possible to choose between XLR/jack for both mic inputs.

Separate EQ and volume control on each channel, master volume, FX loop control (effect return)

The integrated effect is a light reverb/chorus mix ideal for acoustic guitar and vocals.

I give it a 9 because of the mic inputs (XLR only).

UTILIZATION

Ultra easy configuration! Just plug in and you'll have a good sound.

With all settings in the center position you get the raw sound of your guitar.

Good guitar = good sound...

Powerful sound even when the preamp of my guitar and the channel volume and master volume of the amp are set to 50%.

Enough output power for rehearsals.

SOUNDS

I play mainly folk, pop and blues music.

The sound is mellow, smooth and quite transparent (no sound coloration like with a Marshall). This amp faithfully reproduces the sound of your guitar and that's the reason why I find it excellent.

The sound has powerful overtones with round lows and crystal-clear highs. Killer sound...

I tested it live on stage with another guitarist, a bassist and a singer. The sound was clear and powerful. Its 80 watts are enough to be heard without a problem. I set the knobs at the halfway position. Excellent product.

OVERALL OPINION

I previously tried out a Marshall and a Roland. I find the Marshall sounds a bit too electric, it has useless effects and is too expensive. The Roland seems to be too cheap, unreliable...

My SR80 has a natural wood finish and it fits perfectly in a house decorated by a woman... The settings are on the top panel so they are very easy to access, especially when you play standing... On the rear panel there's a ground lift switch.

The power LED has a very nice blue color (instead of the usual red light). These are only nice small details.

It's an excellent amp. With a chorus pedal the sound is extremely good.

You must try it out.
