KRK V4 Serie 2

I know the V6 and V8 and the reputation of the trademark in the workplace.
my home studio is 12 m2 ... and the presence of neighbors not far forced me to select the speaker size and reasonable power so I opted for V4!

SOUNDS

They are fairly neutral and the bass still fairly well restored. the sound is clear and precise and the construction very seriously.

OVERALL OPINION

I'm not disappointed with my investment: I have purchased a year ago and if I think the advice that leaves me on my compos ... the mix is ​​generally quite successful! a purchase that I can only recommend for small home studios.

Having worked for six months in the studio on E8, I became a fan of KRK.
I feared a power limit, but their home studio setup should trs well.
Fear not: Despite a quality manufacturing tration down, the sound is always KRK l.
The attacks are Scheer, the bass is punchy, the default mix or plug comes out enough to handle them. the precision of the sound is satisfactory, and dtails such as the breath of a wind instrument or vibration of a rope rubbing tool for mixing sound and proximity to the real aprcier sound of acoustic instruments. A small bump in medium though.
An exellent choice.

I was looking for monitors for my video editing. The selection criteria:
- Compact and planned for the near field
- Magnetically shielded
- Vent towards the front (near the back wall).
- Neutral, I try not to be impressed by my speakers.
- Active.

SOUNDS

I used to choose various recordings: conventional (Allegri Miserere), Jazz (trio Romano / Sclavis / Texier, Brad Mehldau), rock (Bruce Springsteen). I compared with two other models: Fostex PM0.5 Active and Alesis MK2. The Fostex had an acute acid and too far, a big bulky and draft. They do not seem neutral to me at all: the Miserere of Allegri (vocals), the voices seem to come and go depending on whether the height is sung (or not) at frequencies highlighted. The Alesis had a mild fever, but the bass was too far and too poorly controlled. The KRK seem more neutral, no frequency is emphasized. The fever is never aggressive, the bass is accurate, no skidding. The medium may be slightly cloudy, but nothing too serious. Dynamics seems a bit stifled. The stereo image is well reproduced when the speakers are installed, which is not really the case in my installation. By comparison, the Fostex seem better accommodate a flawed position. Overall, KRK do not have particular areas of excellence, but they have no major defects. Of the three tested pregnant, it is more homogeneous. A very good compromise.

Edit: After a year of use, I'm still very satisfied. I placed upstream equalizer (dbx 231), which allows me to reduce the upper midrange which is by default a little too far (-3dB between 3 and 5kHz), enhance the bass a bit (+3 dB at 63Hz , +6 dB at 50Hz, no more because after you lose in accuracy), and removing resonance from my local (this is what justified the equalizer at the start).

OVERALL OPINION

I use them since May 2005. I especially liked their neutrality, accuracy of pitch and the sweetness of the treble. I was surprised to find a sound as "good" at this price. I was first starting on the Fostex, cheaper and good response. But I do not really accorché. I finally cracked for KRK, I find that éccart price is well justified, especially as the manufacturing quality of KRK is excellent (and tone over the Fostex). There may be other models that are worth this price range, I could not compare in decent conditions with the Event TR5 (positive feedback as well). But if I had to buy the speakers today, KRK undoubtedly be included among the candidates. My overall rating takes into account the price, I am fully aware that there is still much better.

- Curve / Neutral:
To my ears, the curve appears to be neutral. I mix prs for two years every night two hours ... Time to "train" my ears and say I got typ "rock" ... And no surprises when the level of frquences j'coute the DMOS on other Systmes of costs ...

No surprise, it's OK for the size, location Obviously o is defined correctly the two speakers is not super wide attention though place and be at the center of the triangle isocle .. .

-CLART/SPECTRE: No problem, attention to the bass that do not descend to the bottom (normal given the size of the speakers), but for the size they go down all of the same BAS.
The highs are sweet and mdiums are l. ..

-DYNAMIC: Perfect, my ears anyway To be able to compare the speakers MACKIE 824 have a better dynamic I find more "safe", but given their size (the double stack), it's normal ...

OVERALL OPINION

It's been three years since I use them, really no problem, however, purchase ...

What I like most is their size, yeah, when we dplace often, it is also an advantage
The frquences are all well REPRESENTATIVES. No surprises when you go on another Systm of cost.

What I like least, not by the size which means less dynamic and serious
that larger speakers ...

I tried the Beringher (heuuuu, no comment), the Yamaha MPS5 (Chres more aggressive and more), and tried to have APRS buy Mackie 824 (Mdiums on facts my ears but good dynamic trs).

Report quality excellent price when purchased secondhand ...

I would do without this choice hsiter I currently eyeing on KRK but of larger size (8-inch woofer).
