«  Perfection is possible? »

My choice was motivated by the absence of negative reviews on this product after extensive research on the net in this range of speakers.
They come form the final element and the mistress of a purely amateur small home studio room, after a sound card RME Fireface 800.
The main features are on the home page of the product on AF or PSI Audio website, so I did not dwell. However I take this section to tell a resident not too far, I had the chance to get them in Switzerland directly from the manufacturer, meet the designer Alain Roux and visit the premises. This is a family business, craft, led by passionate, and nothing is left to chance in a production line especially careful where everything is tested at every stage. Hat.

SOUNDS

Tone, neutrality, dynamics, precision and stereo are simply fabulous.
I will complete my opinion after further use, but already:
- I just spent a few hours to test all types of music in a local untreated (shame on me, but it will come) and I did not at fault unpleasant listening and / or tiring;
- We used to say that "rediscovered" his songs with new speakers, and this is normal: it is the case with any listening system because it is in the excitement of novelty ( psychologically ear is predisposed to be indulgent), we forget what goes over the former focusing on the sounds that appear in clear we are not objective! A-21M does not let me this impression. Nothing has gone all sounds stand out clearly, a real treat!
- For information (and random) my most significant test was with the song "Alpha" by Vangelis. It offers the triple advantage of being on a slow tempo in order to concentrate on listening, presenting a progressive "stacking" soundtracks the beginning until the final climax, having both crystalline waterfalls happily flirt with 10 kHz or more and percussive sounds and layers that can scan the entire spectrum. A good listen on CD or Wav faithful to the original, if you lose a lot of momentum!

Last but not least, the power reserve is comfortable, and the A-21M go smoothly sub, except perhaps in very large boards but as this is not my case ...

OVERALL OPINION

For now I only use them since yesterday ... I have not tried others, where I live I do not have the opportunity. This is a blind purchase, but not quite as I thoroughly searched the net before: tests, reviews, forums ...
So far I like everything, an irreproachable manufacturing quality to a remarkable precision in sound reproduction, but as I said above I will complete in use.
Only negative point but is not really when you consider that these speakers are designed initially for the broadcasting, the volume control is via a trimmer on the rear. So I have to play with virtual faders my sound card but Palmer Monicon (recently tested AF) will come soon make my life easier at this level.

Difficult to talk about price / quality ratio. Even if it is in doubt the most important element of a (home) studio, everyone can not put € 4,000 in a pair of monitor speakers. I had this opportunity and can only rejoice. I would say that quality has a price, and that for the A-21M it is perfectly justified. No notion of snobbery or razzle-l'oeil in PSI is not the kind of home: quality, only quality, simple and unfussy.

If I had the budget I'd probably me turned to A-25M, but objectively they would probably have been oversized in relation to the use I'm going to do.
Finally, and since I made tracks there, it should be noted that all PSI range has the same quality, the A-14 and A-17 are also excellent, only the bass reproduction "suffers" and it makes sense, with a diameter smaller woofer.

I have yet to experience ... But if I had the choice again and behind the budget, yes, without hesitation!
