Published on 07/19/14 at 10:09I needed additional 8 mic pre-amplified for my RME UFX, I was looking for something not too expensive to put my UFX in a 2U rack for such concerts bar, jazz club ... (hence the quality 48khz enough for me)
The overall quality is very good.
Do not forget to buy 2 TosLink optical cable type and BNC for the syncro.
Preamps are transparent (well, good enough for the CIF-concert) but clearly less powerful than the UFX. I tried 3 condenser microphones (Neumann KMS 105, Blue Bird and T.bone SC1100) and 4 different dynamic mics (vocals, percussions ...): On the verdict ... I UFX adjusts the gain 'digitally' on 30 or 40 of 65 (so around 13:00 knowing that 0 is at 08:00 and maximum is at 16.00), the ADA8200, to have the same 'potato', I have to go at 15:00. What is good is that even at 15:00, I do not have a blast!
on the other hand in the 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. one begins to feel the limits of the preamp.
OVERALL OPINION
Used for one month, I struggled a bit with the option of my iPad app TotalMix FX for the UFX is stable and sync 'but now that I've found is super reliable!
- I love the price and the fact that the gain is controlled with knobs. I love being able to control the routing on ufx all entries ADA8200 with my ipad ... In concert it's great! I also like the neutral preamp.
- I do not like the lack of potato preamp that force me to use in the area of 15:00 (80 or 90%). But hey, even then they do not saturate nor crachouillent, so for my small concerts, fine.
- I do not like at all: the phantom power: who had the idea to turn green when there is not 48 V and red when there is? Come on, he denounces! In addition when it is off (ie green), static continue to operate for at least 30 seconds so it is not known if the phantom power is on or off.
