Value For Money :
Excellent
Keyboard synth type 4 octaves transposed two octaves of acute or severe.
Virtual analog synthesis. 20 voice polyphony. 4 multitimbral parts.
26 knobs and 27 buttons. 990 programs (396 editable) and 396 performances (99 editable) showing the 40 programs including the Nord Lead 2, organ sounds pull, especially dozens of programs straight from Prophet 5!
No effect (except for the distortion, and you can put the reverb or echo playing with the knobs). 1 arpeggiator (not practice). Ultra-lightweight (5.3 kg)
UTILIZATION
This is my first synthesizer (I played on until arranger keyboard and piano scene). At first I wanted to take a little synth style Korg R3 or Novation Ultranova and for 400 € more I could have this great value, so I did not hesitate.
Internal programs are varied but excellent. I would say that there may be too (because the selection is really not easy: there is just a red LED display that displays the old numbers only, and to select a program on must do so by either pressing the button "forward" or "backward" - can move 10 by pressing "shift"). It pays to note the numbers of his favorite programs or move them to the first bank of sounds to find them more easily, especially on stage! However, the variety of programs can give a broad idea of the potential of the machine.
What I liked about this synth, besides its color and very beautiful design is the concept a feature: a button. You can edit A to Z existing programs or create a sound from 0 (there is a function for this).
SOUNDS
Varied! Among the existing programs, there are good fats leads, good punchy bass, very nice pads, sets of synthetic strings, brass, so Jump, and even wurli, of rhodes, organs, flutes, ethnic sounds etc..
The performances are very expressive and enhance the arpeggiator, which is not at all easy to tame. It's a shame because it has potential, but it is very hard to set the tempo live (it is adjusted with a knob, so the ear).
I note in particular that this synth has a very powerful grain and can stack up to four sounds split and layer. And especially for amateurs, this synth has dozens of patches of the Prophet 5.
Note that a lot of sounds are typed "vintage" (their name starts with OB, SEQ, Mini, JP, etc..).
OVERALL OPINION
The Nord Lead 2X is a reference (it's 10 years it is still for sale!), Especially for a beginner like me. Once we understood the impact that will have on its Turning particular knob, have fun a lot. Its keyboard is very pleasant to touch and makes you want to play and compose. The fact edit the sounds in real time is very playful.
I think he has an excellent value for money and I can not find him qualities, except for the arpeggiator. But as a creator of sounds, it really is a bomb!
