I will not dwell on features, but just point out that the G2 is not a synthesizer driven by a virtual keyboard, but an autonomous modular synthesizer controllable by a publisher on computer. (The confusion is common, this n is not a luxury plug-in)

UTILIZATION

as long as you have some knowledge of synthesis everything is clear. The editor is very readable, only the knobs to control the mouse is a problem of accuracy, quickly erased by a very simple assignment of these parameters to the facade of the G2X, which lacks neither knobs, switches or displays. Only changes in the architecture of the patch inevitably require the use of the editor, everything else is accessible from the keyboard.
Regarding the game itself, I do not know how to do better now. Knobs galore, 3 knobs, pitch, expression pedal, aftertouch, velocity, 4 audio in, all assignable to any parameter or group of parameters. It is an extra pair of hands is needed. We do not know a sound without having passed through a grinder G2 ... it's amazing, every time.
Without being really a pianist, I think we'll have been expected of a keyboard clavia a little more serious (the plastoc, light and loud, the G2X, anyway) when we know the Bizarre qualitée of what is to interior of the gas plant.

SOUNDS

Although beautifully emulates the organ, the imitation of instruments is not his vocation. What he imitates well, however, it is the other synths. all other synths or almost. I did 2 or 3 tests with Korg, Roland, a sequential. It's quite impressive. But given the opportunity, it would be simplistic. Here is the ongoing escalation. Farewell fantasia, up to reality, everything is there and if not there are ways to get around. While at work! daily surprises.

OVERALL OPINION

Already 6 years of heavy use, I still do not do the trick. Not a problem, it's solid. Nothing is missing except may be a SPDIF digital output and a keyboard a bit more consistent for a 5 octaves. Note that the OS is updated fairly often, sometimes embellished with additional functions. Despite the end of production of the G2, Clavia seems to continue to work on the machine, so why not a day passes new extensions? without going so far, the vast user community involvement makes this synth very scalable.
