Published on 02/29/12 at 05:25This model is a replica of the modules created by Tom Oberheim SEM in 1974 and has an interface patch panel for parameter control in Voltage Control.
This synth is fully analogue and thus has no memory, each potentiometer to a single function. Editing is very simple.
Level of connectivity, there is a mono output jack minijack connectors 33 and 6.35 for the patch part.
The synthesizer consists of two oscillators that may take forms of sawtooth or Pulse Pulsewidth with adjustable. It has a 12 dB multimode filter: lowpass, highpass, bandpass and notch.
Modulation level, there are two envelopes ADS ultrafast and an LFO that can not change the waveform.
As you can see, everything is pretty simple.
UTILIZATION
The use could not be more simple, one button = one function. Nothing crazy, nothing superfluous. Knowing the synthesis, it goes very fast.
Where things get exciting is when adding modules to interact with the beast.
SOUNDS
The sound of the SEM is very special, it has a rather brassy. Its ultra-fast envelopes can create arpeggio very dynamic and incisive. Its two powerful oscillators coupled to the filter can create real sonic blasts. It is far from the softness of his Moog, SEM has a very incisive and accurate; of great power and very rich in terms of the spectrum. It's a mind-blowing when the machine tries for the first time!
And if opportunities are not sufficient, a semi-modular and more (Dark Energy, Megazwerg, etc..) And new sonic regions are open to you!
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for two months and I fell madly in love with sound in two seconds.
I tried a Two Voice at a friend and yet I was blown away when I got mine. It's really unusual and magical sound. Very powerful and with a strong personality. My rating is 100% subjective because it is really the sound of my dreams. But it is impossible, even if you do not like to deny the acoustic qualities det instrument!
