USE

It can not be simpler in my opinion, simply turn it on and play, the menu is simple and basic hyper.
Like I said above, the edition is difficult, I used the midday with the sequencer Cubase, and they do not like too much both, I have to save my problems sequences, the patch does never mmoris when the modulation filters and envelopes, they are neutralized and departure at each end of the loop ...

NOTICE GLOBAL

I used it for 2 months, what I like least is the edition via software, what I like most is the power and the sound of the machine, this is my first pure analog so I have too much experience, I think not so expensive as some say, and yet j'me'm bleeding to pay me, but compared to a Moog is apparently better and cheaper, I would do this choice without hsiter, though if I had the means, I would have bought her big brother Omega 8, but hey, it's Adi foot!

UTILIZATION

Navigation through the menus is simple even though we would have preferred a button function ...

assignment envelopes, ring modulator, noise generator, velocity sensitivity, name patches, auto glide mode retrigger (last, up, down, very useful), the pitch even after réglagles between oscilloscope, the sync from 1 to 2 and 3 ...

SOUNDS

SE 1 sounds terrible, either for low fat or liquid groooooossssses or sub ... Compared to my other analos is the top of this view (Superbass station, MS 20 mini Perfourmer, juno 2 ex 8000) ... The juno 2 sounds terrible in the low but more rough and less versatile.
Solo, just open the oscilloscope with filter ring, this is a clear sine, square with a portamento or PWM .... I'm just not a fan of filter stairs ...
Well, a flat course, I bought a mini MS 20 for the wild, this is much better because it is not the height of the SE 1.
Note that the effects of compressor types (to counteract some envelopes not super fast, but I'm not bothered either), overdrive, phaser take great compared to some synths. To compensate for the clean side, I also use a vintage analog EQ (as Maxon pue5b) and it sounds as old school as possible.
Note that you can experiment widely and don'ts that the rnb or rap! (The 1 is deemed to be part of the most prestigious studios in this style ... For my part, I use it for ambient, jazz funk ...)

OVERALL OPINION

At present VA, poly analos all kinds, an analog monophonic synth and interest in ensuring this is the case.
I owned ATC 1 and clearly, I upgraded to the SE 1 for its ergonomics, screen, and moog filters and integrated week without having to change the cartridge ... (1 atc has a good reputation, allows the cross mod, but the interface has repelled me, as for the waldorf pulse for example)
It was very warm sound, a very specific tone and that leaves raw or work with effects.
This is a very good value for money used, and some experts say it is the most similar Minimoog, even better than the travel ... A little phatty whether or sub phatty are competitors ... I could not test ... I think they are less complex, more direct sound but so can be run more round with the risk is 1 ...
I still bought a mini 20 ms in addition to the hearts of "all front" and more experimental and a very different filter ...

UTILIZATION

no need for manual, it's simple and not too complicated to edit the same sound when you enter in the 'programer'.
the first series, there are two banks of 99 sounds, all editable.

here is the highlight of this machine! a warm "vintage analog" grain, low good "fat", leads or a nice little nap, do it all. asks all the same a few minutes to reach the results hoped.
filter and exelent but it's still not the equal of the moog, but it is nice anyway! 24 db filter and exelent.
only the envelopes my moin appeared faster than a mini, with FITRE course!
the LFO are working well.
short on a budget who wants to have fun and discover the world of analog, I say go for it! but I would advise him more atc-1 of the first generation which is full MIDI and a less expensive and I can find you more dynamic. (I do not know the new versions)

OVERALL OPINION

I've had 98 years of a pair! as atc-1 I also possesses him since 1993, I never revendrais! great single, real memory with analog and noon! I own a lot of other analog, both my machine are différante other ... an analog to normal!
strengths of SE-1 is louise sound, a powerful filter.
its weak points are (I repeat, I mean premeieres versions) is two poor midi controller (assignable)
and can attack a soft, less punchy than the ATC-1.
today OCCAZ is more than a business.
I would do without hesitation that choice!

This is another perfect example of a brand that wants posititionner his instruments on a market price today closed compltement on.
The SE-1 is an analog module mainly complete and ddi-sounding bass and Lead since it is monaural. I said monophonic 1495 USD, making clucking softly. But hey ... It possde output Stereo Main, 300 internal presets that are expandable with extensions not available ROM

SOUNDS

Cot's is Correct. I would go up well. Now even if we compare the price of the module, we also move towards a Intrets SuperNII Nord Lead 2 or even a virus associated with a K FM sound module type FS-1 or TX at Yamaha.

I dtest by DEFINITIONS take a bad picture of a machine yet possde features and sound CHARACTERISTICS intrinsques INTERESTED trs. But please Mr. Studio Electronics, lower your prices. The analogy is more than one price, the analogy either.

It is a rack that offers sounds very close to a Minimoog, but with MIDI capabilities and memories.
256 memories, support midi mod wheels, aftertouch, etc. ... the SE-1 Studio Electronics is better than a Minimoog blade at a fraction of the price.

UTILIZATION

We can not be simpler, you connect, you play.
You can change the sounds for the buttons very well thought out.
I must say that it is immediately impressed by the quality of the sounds of the bank base (especially bass and leads.).
Then when you change the sounds we realize that the machine is super stable, nothing to do with an old vintage.

SOUNDS

The sound is really light years of MFB, a Neptune, and even a trip.
The traveling is really more limited, it is much more expensive and sounds a little too 'round' for my taste.
In short when we heard this marvel is immediately captured and the price and (sorry for those who can not afford) fully justified.
I do not know of that have equivalent synth sound as perfect, covering all styles and really polyvanent for both the Hip Hop Jazz, Newage.
Its flaw is to have no S & H and Noise and therefore it is wise enough that a machine will make every good vintage big sound (have to trash your old synths) with a simple MIDI implementation of quality and memories! I put 10 anyway because I'm tired of galleries with synthetic CV / gate, which go out of tune.
This synth sounds really analog, it is also, but I mean that the grain is not below the Minimoog, the contrary ...

OVERALL OPINION

Obviously I put 10. There is no equivalent. This synth is used by every major, the list is too long. Yet these 'great' have the money to pay for MemoryMoog, a ton of travel. But no, they used the SE1, because it has a perfect sound for what it does, it is stable, effective, robust rack in the studio, with lots of memory and a MIDI support quality and very complete.

Here, put some money aside, and then resell your vintage sleeping, you're going to burn the studio with such a device!

Note from 07/2006: I correct that opinion because I have now a Minimoog Voyager V 3.1. It must be said, the SE1x sounds better than the Minimoog in all areas. This is not the same machine (the mini has a keyboard, a touch screen, looks terrible and it's a great object of scene), but in studio and pure, SE1 has more punch and the sound is better defines it best resort in a mix and the bass is more effective.

UTILIZATION

Easy to make a Ohio Players "Funky worm" style worm. Easy to make a Mini Type bass sound. Easy to sound like a warm analong mono sound... Nice peice of gear.. Just has a higher price of admission for most people.

Very well made... American design at it's best. Built in Cali. For $600 I can send it in and have it upgraded to a new SE-1x. It will buy me more Patch storage and audio (filter) input upgrade as well as a new rack case. I will get that done eventualy and have it come back with a chrome grill.

SOUNDS

It's Analog. It's like a Minimoog, but not quite. It's Filters are like a minimoogs but not quite. It's Filters are like a Oberhiem SEM but not quite. It's analog... and it does bass and leads like no other.

OVERALL OPINION

It's the host with the most... the bass box with a big ass bottom. A sqweely worm, and ready to lead your track...
