This was basically put together customarily through Apple, and in addition to two 3.0 Quad Core processors, it also has 10 GB of RAM. I don't own this computer, but my roommate does in his studio and I use it all the time when we work together. This was made for running DAWs like Logic, Pro Tools, etc and is extremely fast at doing everything you can think of. Even though it's a couple of years old at this point, it's still an incredibly fast computer and I honestly can't imagine it getting much faster, although I know it already has. However, for running Pro Tools LE or Logic with AU or RTAS plug-ins, it's an absolute beast and should be able to support anything else you want to use with it. I've never seen it lag when it comes to running a session and is super quick to do everything. My roommate programmed it to receive all sorts of shortcuts and key commands for even faster use. The price wasn't cheap to put this together, but it's something that you're going to have for many years to come. Even if you were to get one that is a few years older like this one and maybe not the same exact specs, you'd be able to do a good amount of damage with it. I'd love to have one of these or something similar at home, but for now I've got a pretty quick lap top for running sessions. Although expensive if you are going to fully customize your Apple computer, if you are making music with your computer and looking to do so easily for years to come, getting something like this Apple MacPro 3.0 Dual-Quad Core Intel Xeon is a great investment!See less01

This is a desktop computer and im not sure if they have the same computer in a laptop version but this one is top of the line. It has so much memory and power behind it I can run pro tools , logic, and final cut pro all at the same time without any issues or lagging.
You probably wont find a better computer on the market that’s affordable like this one is. You probably wont find a better computer on the market that’s affordable like this one is. I paid 1400 dollars for it that’s was with a discount that I had got with a coupon from another product that I purchased through guitar center online. For some odd reason a lot of people seem to be selling these computers on eBay and Craig list. But if you try to get this computer right before school starts a lot of places will say they are sold out of them. So its obviously in demand and is no slouch in the computer game.
Overall I am extremely happy to say that I use this computer, because this has everything I have every wanted and needed out of a computer. Even though I have another computer that’s a pc and its very powerful it still doesn’t compare to what the Apple Mac Pro Intel Xeon 2,6 Ghz can do. This computer is no match to its competitors and is the best home desktop that Apple makes in my opinion because there is another model that cost more but pretty much has the same specs. A lot of people get up set with this because there is no monitor, but you can hook it up to your lcd tv and bam, you have a great system!

+ Is a mac is a bomb
- No. except maybe now I'll have to spend more time on the computer to dial so you can use the software (Logic 8 on my part)
not. Apple MacPro and the name are enough for me
the price is high but it is easy to keep such a machine three years. which says as much of a PC?

This is the computer that we've got in the main room at the studio where I work. It's got dual 2.66 Ghz Intel Xeon processors to go along with 10 GB of RAM...that's right, 10 GB! After all, this is the computer that we record everything with in our A room and it needs to be able to handle anything and everything you throw at it, and it certainly does! We are running the computer with a Pro Tools HD system, so most of the processing is done on our three accel cards. We are running the computer with a Pro Tools HD system, so most of the processing is done on our three accel cards. We keep this computer on at all times and so far in my time working at the studio we've never had a problem with it whatsoever. In fact, everything runs very smoothly, which is rare for a Pro Tools system as each one seems to have some sort of bug somewhere or another. Beyond getting crazy and getting something like a Quad Core or Eight Core processor, this is pretty much the best Apple computer you can get that I'm aware of. I know that if this can handle a full on Pro Tools session that it will be able to handle anything you throw at it - recording wise or not. Even though this isn't the most recent technology as far as processors go, it's still pretty close and should absolutely be more than enough for most users. In fact, something like this would probably be too much processing power for most people and in most situations is probably under utilized. If you are looking to get a super fast and clean working Apple computer for your home or professional recording rig, the Apple Mac Pro with Intel Xeon processors will get the job done and then some...See less00
