The Apple MacPro 3.0 Dual-Quad Core Intel Xeon is one fast machine. This was basically put together customarily through Apple, and in addition to two 3.0 Quad Core processors, it also has 10 GB of RAM. I don't own this computer, but my roommate does in his studio and I use it all the time when we work together. This was made for running DAWs like Logic, Pro Tools, etc and is extremely fast at doing everything you can think of. Even though it's a couple of years old at this point, it's still an incredibly fast computer and I honestly can't imagine it getting much faster, although I know it already has. However, for running Pro Tools LE or Logic with AU or RTAS plug-ins, it's an absolute beast and should be able to support anything else you want to use with it. I've never seen it lag when it comes to running a session and is super quick to do everything. My roommate programmed it to receive all sorts of shortcuts and key commands for even faster use. The price wasn't cheap to put this together, but it's something that you're going to have for many years to come. Even if you were to get one that is a few years older like this one and maybe not the same exact specs, you'd be able to do a good amount of damage with it. I'd love to have one of these or something similar at home, but for now I've got a pretty quick lap top for running sessions. Although expensive if you are going to fully customize your Apple computer, if you are making music with your computer and looking to do so easily for years to come, getting something like this Apple MacPro 3.0 Dual-Quad Core Intel Xeon is a great investment!
