Behringer Bass V-Amp

Behringer Bass V-ampPublished on 11/21/09 at 15:00
I have played in Jazz, Blues and Rock bands for the past 20 years (with a stint in a brass band before that).
I am currently playing an Epiphone Limited edition Custom SG through a fairly straight Jade amplifier.
Whilst I like distortion as much as the next person, I think the true test of and amp and effects unit is proven in the clean sounds.

I stumbled across the Bass V Amp almost by accident when my brother was given it to use with his keyboard. I tried it once and knew that I needed one. I found several retail prices around for A$180, but with a small amount of investigation I found one for A$140.

I stumbled across the Bass V Amp almost by accident when my brother was given it to use with his keyboard. I tried it once and knew that I needed one. I found several retail prices around for A$180, but with a small amount of investigation I found one for A$140.
I bought this unit because my Digitec GNX2 was just too fiddly and it is so effects driven compared to the V Amp which has a better balance of Effects v's Amps

I love the ease of use. The 25 banks of 125 preset sounds are so usable whilst a simple change of the amps can make an unbelievable difference.
The 32 amp modeling settings offer the best I have experienced. The way you play your guitar directly impacts the output of the amp - This hands so much control back to the guitarist's skill.

This is a VERY LOW NOISE Unit. I have read other reviews where people claim that the V Amp is noisy. There are so many ways with this unit to avoid noise - My advice to anyone who finds this unit noisy would be to check their leads and guitar and amp connections. It will NOT be the V Amp.

I love that a unit can be created for multiple instruments and be so good for all of them.

The LED lights on the dials are so helpful. When you dial between presets you can see how the sound will perform before you even play your first note - No screaming accidents when a quiet entry is needed.

Midi functions and add on foot controllers offer flexibility.

The user guide is a waste of time - If you have any questions, get straight onto Behringer support. They are great!

Having to depress the 'shift button' to dial the 2nd bank of amps means that you can't shift easily in performance. I guess you can always preset it if you know what you want in advance.

I think it is really well made.
I do concede that it is made of plastic but the product is strong and is packaged in the padded gig bag, plus that makes it nice and light. If you are like me, you will appreciate the low weight.
I think the design is really clever, I read another review and do not agree with the claim that it is 'hard to plug in'

What a great unit! It is well made, well package and well thought out.

This unit offers me the ability to do so much. I love the Ultrabass effect. To be able to sound like George Benson with such a beautiful octave effect is great.

There is one problem - This has prevented me from buying a new half stack and a board full of single effects pedals. With 32 true amp sounds and 16 effects offering hundreds of usable combinations at my finger tips I will be saving my money. Great Job Behringer!

I saw this product in a street press mag for sale as a new product and thought well the price is right $299 AUSTRALIAN dollars (About $100 US) even cheaper after my mate who worked at a music store, gave me a staff discount. (he later got fired for giving staff discounts to mates)

nothing.

I did some research on the net and all sounded good.....unforetunately when I brought it home it did not sound so good....not as complicated as the V-amp pro was said to be, but not exactly user friendly. It boasts a huge range of player presets from musicians i have never heard and when i used them I wasn't surprised. The effects are so poor quality i found all 125 pretty much useless. there is a...…

It boasts a huge range of player presets from musicians i have never heard and when i used them I wasn't surprised. The effects are so poor quality i found all 125 pretty much useless. there is a terrible 2 second delay when switching effects which makes it pointless for live gigging, the bypass function is very poor quality digital reproduction and there is a lot of white noise/ buzz which makes it not good for recording either.

not bad...but not good either...plastic case
in the shape of a guitar...very corny and obvious trying to hide the simularity to the kidney shaped POD. I was more impressed with the footswitch...metal.

This is a cheap immitation of the LINE 6 POD and belive me that is exactly what it is.. A CHEAP IMMITATION. . My advice, you are better off with a zoom 506 or my old favourite the korg ax1b for that budget. Or save up and buy the BOSS GT 6b ... i just did.

UTILIZATION

The first contact is easy, provided you follow the manuel.L 'edition of the presets is easy, you can choose an amplifier, a speaker and a effet.Les other corrections are made directly on the buttons prvus this . The buttons are surrounded by o Led to track it is, the Pb is that we do not see them when the v-amp is possible on a bureau.Le v-amp can be controlled via the pdalier Behringer MIDI.

SOUND QUALITY

It's the it's good! For guitars, the sound is great for distos, slightly less for clean sounds (with a little reverb, a password impec !!!). For bass, I found the sound presets correct.Les are not distinct enough, especially if the grave.Le mdium button is not effective enough (range frequency drives too small). Nanmoins has sonne.Il just need to find the right preset and s 'y tenir.J' uses no effects on the guitar and the basse.Le is made, my ears, better than in a home studio amp (it has to take me to concerts!). But there is everything you need to get started in the home studio.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had one week and that's the ball! All I need is the need boitier.Pas Plus.ca 'is the perfect tool for Mao.Il sounds worse than the Bass POD (Heu. .. on so serious, it's the same thing!) but the POD is much more expensive and do not possde simulations guitare.Par zoom ratio 607 is a vamp! ! The report is qualitprix imbattable.Que say more than that for 179 Euros, you have everything, I advise all those who practice many instrumentals that have not necessarily the budget to pay for a Marshall head and Ampeg.

UTILIZATION

For fast (I connect, I play) the main parameters are available immediately.
For cons to return more inside of it must be preset editor software that is very well done: All parameters are at hand.
the manual is very thin at the same time it allows a very fast grip the rest comes by grinding machine and the editor.

In fact we need to understand the internal architecture: wha + preamp + hp + fx simultaneous denoiser + + + distortion pedal simultaneously comp.

SOUND QUALITY

In terms of simulation nothing to say it works very well whether it be bass, acoustic guitars, electric. It sounds very good.
the only complaint would be the level that drives the reverb sounds a bit far wrong that said this is a defect found on many other devices and chorus that are thin, but I'm picky. ..
there are plenty of preset effect on the funny as hell.

OVERALL OPINION

I for 1 month.
It is really convenient and good quality (sound) if it had made an effort on the connector.
I had a gx-700 just before going into oblivion!
Nevertheless I will change it spoke pro version order to benefit from the Integrating the power supply and digital output, even a losing transportabilit ....
In two words in a superb machine 180 euro.
