Purchased it from eBay for a whopping $36.I wanted to create my own sound a little, and this unit seemed to have more than what I needed.

This thing is pocket-size. Very easily transportable, looks great and can run on AA batteries if you dont have an adapter. I like the # of effects it comes with (30+). The Echo and Delay are worth mentioning. Customizing effects takes a little time. The tuner is a nice addition also. The Pre-amp maximizes my sound and the Noise-Reduction works good also. This unit is also made in Japan.

The distortion is quite bad. There are several types of dist. to select from, I cannot say the sound quality is very high. because this product is about the size of a few CD's stacked on top of eachother, there are only 2 foot switches. This makes swicthing from different effects difficult since you don't have 4 seperate foot switches to stomp on. The digital display screen coul be a little bigger also.

The unit is mostly plastic. The bottom is metal. I have not experienced any problems. I baught this piece used and it looks brand new. Not a scratch on it. Unless you are going to stomp full furce on the foot switches, you have nothing to worry about.

I think there is a lot that a bassist can do with this piece of equipment. If you are looking to create your own sound this thing has over 30 effects to choose from. Combining different effects is also a plus. You can layer up to 8 if I am not mistaken. For 36 bucks I am satisfied. For stage use this product is good, but switching between effects can be time consuming. If this is your first time buying a multi-effects pedal and you get a good deal on this product, then go for it.

I Bought this unit at The Music Works In Anchorage Alaska Retail $145 and paid $99 I acquired The unit for a headphone practice amp with stereo effects

once I opend it up and put power on I was amazed at the sound of the unit and the fact that it can be used for up to 17 hours on one set of batteries the sound was full and the effects were great and the controls are easy to use

pluged in to an amp the stereo effects were gone

plastic stomp box with a two button foot switch fair quality

it is a great practice unit for private playing and the sound is great a lot of fun for the begginer or pro

My parents paid around £65 for this on my birthday. It was bought from Windows in Newcastle. I asked for it because I needed some basic effects to keep up with the guitarist in my band.

I like the effects, apart from the distortions (more on that later.) Great Chorus and flanger. Price! So cheap, there is a higher level one (708?) with which you get a few more effects and an expression pedal. But this was much more expensive for not much more pedal.

The distortions. They sound empty and shallow. I only use one of them. (Edge)
This is easily remedied by buying a Boss ODB-3. Also the effects sound much better with an expression pedal.

Quite good really. The unit is plastic, but that doesnt bother me much because it is tucked away under my amp. (I just have the Boss and the expression pedal at my feet)

Buy it! The one problem with this accessory is that you need other accessories with it (Exp pedal and a Overdriver) to take it from being great to being exceptional. Overall a brilliant stomp box, especially when you consider the price.

I got this Zoom unit for Christmas my parents paid about $70 american for it, i asked for it so i could have some decent effects without paying alot

Pros:On/Off is easy, unlike v amp it comes on automatically

Fairly good effects
Decent Pre-Set Patches
Lots of freedom in making your own effects
Durable
Cool looking/stylish
All the effects you need for a beginner/intermediate with no job, heh

Cons:You have to have an ac adaptor for it work, batteries will work but not for very long

Not very easy to just pickup and make your own setting,MUST READ Manual, this is sort of a good thing, you will know what you are actually doing

its a cool looking plastic on top but the rest is metal on the bottom and everything, can stay on and not flinch for hours(good for gigs)overall quality is very good for the price

Great small sized effects pedal, great if you have a crappy amp and just want to practice with headphones, you can do this too, very cool, very good quality, a must have, the price is so awesome unlike a bass POD or V-amp or anything else out there, this is a great pedal!

After thinking about the 506 for a long time, I was pushed over the edge when Zoom revised the pedal, and bought out the 506/2.
So I went the the Rockshop and paid $199 NZ for it, and $89 for the expression pedal (I really only wanted the unit for wah and volume swells, so the expression pedal was a nescessary requirement for me.

I liked the tuner, the ease of getting from one effect to another.

Hmm... First of all, the unit is made out of a tough, but cheap plastic which doesn't look like it'd handle being kicked around a stage. In fact, every time I stand on it Im afraid I'm gonna crush it. Secondly, the effects sound terrible. The unit sucks all the low mids out of the sound, leaving you with a very hollow, and incredibly weak bass sound. To my ears this unit actually sounds better on a guitar.

The plastic fantastic top, with a metal plate underneath, and 4 little rubber feet.

In summary, I felt a little let down by this unit, but what did I expect for the price.... Good for beginners, but if you know your #5's from your augmented notes, you'll not have a happy time with this one

I bought this used on eBay for $50, after researching many effects pedals for bass.

One of the things that bothers me the most about doing music today is the exclusivity of equipment. In the Medieval period, musicians were dirt-poor, but somehow they could afford relatively good-quality instruments. OK maybe not. But how is a lower-middle class college student with little or no income supposed to play any music if he can't get any decent equipment? The Zoom 506 Mk. I is a pretty good pedal for the price, which isn't saying much. The effects sound ok, and it's good for someone who wants a lot of effects, is a beginner at music, and doesn't make mega-bucks.

This unit, unfortunately, even at $50 or $60 (which is still too much for many of us poor college students) is not professional-quality. The unit is kinda noisy and cheaply made. You can't layer all the effects on top of each other-- just the ones that work at different 'layers.' That's still better than the Ensoniq KT-180 keyboards, at one effect per preset...

Cheap plastic. Probably costs about 50¢ for Zoom to make.

I'd buy it again if I had to, because I can't afford anything else, and it's really not THAT bad!

Well, it's cheap. So the quality is not there: it's the food, "it drool" is cold and the bypass is really horrible (reverb, its cold ...)

OVERALL OPINION

So it sounds bad, but it's really cheap as multi-effects. I bought a year ago for a multi-purpose and I still had fun with, at that price it also has the advantage of being able to learn about the effects. You just have to take into account the effects are not as rotten as above. Really for small budgets, so must see according to your goals.

It is easy to use, except that I did not understand how to bring two effects is poorly explained and then it not work with mine.

Not bad, overall. But there's effects, you're doing anything and it sounds always the same ...
on the other hand, there is an effect that I use for my fretless makes really good.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 2 years, I use it more and that is why I will change it. It happens very quickly in the limit, but is a good start for a chorus, a saturation, a reverb without breaking the bank. IMPORTANT: the plug for connection to a transformer is very fragile and it is in any case preferable to battery because the sound is cut each time you press to initiate or stop an effect (and it eats batteries in !) all the people around me who used a ZOOM pedal guitar or bass, they had the same problems.

Oh yes, trs simple, no worries.
Because of the limited rglages for the edition of the effects is particulirement ease.
Ergonomics is worthy of the ZOOM: fast and efficient.
Although sr, the REUSABLE is cheap, I wonder how long it will last.

For a product of 70 Euros, no miracles: the sound is not good. It blows the dynamics going on the trap, and we end up with a terrible cudgel that is trying to pump up with lot of blows that goes with ...

OVERALL OPINION

Why 8 / 10? simply because this little thing Hill 70 euros!
There is no deception, it achte knowing full well that its level is not a.
It has the advantage of allowing a first contact with the effects of low, learn to play with, to buy a nice APRS pedals or a real pdalier.

It is also the small pleasure of playing with headphones on vacation unhurriedly.
In this connection, a line between supplmentaire t would be welcome, just to paste over my mp3 player with drum pattern, but ...

Easy to use,
I use it mainly for the tuner function, to play with headphones when dplacements, and the reverb. I also use a little distortion.
Other than that I use it mainly for fun, sounds n'tant not top, but enough for discovering and having fun

SOUND QUALITY

Many sounds are quite rough, only a few are really used, the pedals are especially good for discovering the effects, but even when some are useful, and the tuner function and headphone back the usefulness the pedals
