The ddx digital mixer has all the standard studiotools on board, like channel delay, gate, compressor, effects, and even phase reverse. It's just a complete production package, can't think of something missing. the expansion slots give you the opportunity to hook up adat , tdif en aes-ebu equipment. In the near future , i'm going to install a adat board in the ddx and in my pc, so i can record up to 32 channels digital audio on my computer. Wow, at that price!!
Price paid: 1399 euro
UTILIZATION
Not much has to be said here, very easy! I started without reading the manual. Offcourse, when you're a newbie in studioland, it's neccessary to read the manual. But hey, why should you buy such an advanced device then?
SOUNDS
Well, let's be honest, it's not a yamaha o2r96, but i'm not owning a 1 milion professional studio. For semi professional use, especialy when you won't make any acoustic recordings, it's perfect. I believe the pre amps, can be of better quality. But in my situation, only line gear is connected except for one condensor mic. And even that one sounds great! effects are pretty good, but i wont sell my lexicon! dynamics are a bit lame, better use the inserts to route them to youre analog compressor. But in most circumstances, they are pretty usefull.
OVERALL OPINION
The first range of analog behringer mixers were not that robust. but i have to say, this one is just as robust as e.g. the yamaha o1v, wich i recently laid my hands on for a mixjob. No negative comments here!
i love it!!!! Because of it's price it's a perfect substitute for the more expensive mixers from e.g. yamaha. I own it just for a few days, but this is the best buy i made in years!
