Well I give my opinion only because frankly the lack of objectivity of people annoys me.

UTILIZATION

It's super simple and intuitive who had on February 1 st and with a current 96i 01v. I can tell you that the converter are great on the Mackie and that cake to use.

Not need the manual. It is so obvious that even added an adat in 2 click.

SOUNDS

The effects are not bad and if you like there is not enough to add to external effects.

The converters are not bad, already better than the 02 r v2. The dynamics are good.

OVERALL OPINION

I used it for 1 year and a half.

+ I liked its ease of use, sound really bad, the overall management of the number of the software.

- The size of the lives not just in small place. The software a bit slow.

We can have cheap frankly if it is for the rehearsal or studio is cool secondhand. For the live a little less.

Very good console in terms of its number of entries, routing, automation, extensions and interfaces

The only problem! it does not sound, the preamps are really means, the sound (even in LINE) is soft,
the eq and other compressors are really not good!

UTILIZATION

The console took over rev quickly. Quickly found its mark, the usual functions are accessible with one click.

Converters-effects and are of good quality.
Trs-good quality sound, dynamic compliance same for a console numrique.

OVERALL OPINION

I use this console for 3 years.
I tried other console numrique before buying the Mackie D8B, Yamaha (the cold and impractical to use), other brands such as SONY RMX100 yet (bugs) one step too small .
My change of activity forces me to sell the D8B, it will miss a lot.
It's a great console efficient, reliable, Mackie are all the same manufacturing pro console.

First point that I find not the least: The overall appearance of this "console" is cheap. Everything is plastic, fragile appearance. It does not inspire comfort. The "tOPV" must not have a reasonable lifetime ...
The use of this "console" is rather simple. Although I had problems with recalls stage, who jumped automation. The worst is the compressor, unusable. The EQ is not extra, a 15 dB on a frequency no agreement, or else cringe. Ultimately, with external converters, and good bills, it could be a patch ...

I did not used very long (several months). Enough to leave aside and mix in Pro Tools. By the same logic console, I prefer the 02R.
It's too expensive, as unnecessary. Not to be buying!

I wanted to go to numrique to facilitate recordings via my PC. Before I used a Mackie 24/8/2 and I've always given me that but happiness.
But I do not regret the D8B (bought 3 months there in 2550) is excellent and is much easier to use than I imagined. It sounds good, it is convenient, compact and effects are nickels. Excellent choice!

For an album
Many, it would exaggerate say that I very much identifies the difference with a Soundcraft or a control surface for a DAW
The best: it allows a rapid mixing
Fewest: sound very irregular on low, fairly well; cons for electric guitars sound artificial; so amazing classical guitars sound pretty, sunny, as if this was not the preamp, to factory turbine on voice: well generally, but with a cloudy sky in the high, perhaps due to caution before using the EQ, which I thank our engineer because when they intervene, it does seems more nothing (the height you say, the EQ are the main interest of the mix, right?)
The quality / price seems right hand that can Squeezer for converters and has at least two or three preamp 'colored.
For compression, I reserve my opinion, not knowing how far the sound has been compressed; say no audible pumping effect.
Without being mean, no, its too flat and poorly suited to rock.
In contrast, electronic parts emerge very well: I think it can even be an excellent tool for dealing with the voices apart and records / mixes with synth. Very good point that enhances all: not so bad.

SOUNDS

This mixing desk sounds good.

I bought it secondhand and I had heard some negative comments before buying it, but its sound surprised me. I find it punchy and very versatile.

The mixer is reliable and sturdy considering its price (please spare me the comparisons with an SSL or a Neve, which are totally different products).

I use it with a HDR24/96 and it's a breeze!

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using it for several months in my home studio. I also have two Yamaha 02-R to compare it to.

The mixer seems to be less sturdy than the Yamahas. The sound is very different but pleasant.

I don't use the converters because my Motu converters sound better. I use this mixer only to mix.

I manage all recordings with my PC and a control surface.

The value for money is unbeatable and if the mixer ever gets broken I'll run to the shop to buy a second one.

A small turnoff is that the OS upgrades are not free, which I find unacceptable. Mackie has an awful sales policy regarding this.
