Square unit with touchpad. I play a little bit of everything, but not good at anything, haha. I'm pretty creative though, so this unit helps me throw some tracks down to really juice up my tunes.

I wanted something to really add some pizazz to my recordings. Korg had this product out there and for $199, I loved the ability to slide out some synth tones just using my hands.

There are a hundred presets, and tons of gate arpeggios for developing loops and patterns. Just using your finger to build your sounds is just the coolest things and makes adding some zap to your recordings just amazing fun.

In my opinion the battery could last a little longer.

Seems constructed well. I've not really subjected it to too much, though.

If you can find this under two hundred, I think it's highly worth it. Check around on ebay or Craigslist and get one used. I think the MSRP is two fifty, but you can find it cheaper. Korg did a nice job making the Kaossilator fun. It sounds pretty good too!

I do again my choice for a Korg Koassilator with 2 Memory Card.

I owned and I own the Kaossilator moèle the "Pro": the sounds are identical, the first in a cent less than the second, no noon, no adjustable output, a single loop without possibility of backup. But for the traveling and love electro, its portability makes it a must! It creates what the keyboard or guitar can not: phrases, rhythms, moods, which we have no idea.

UTILIZATION

The KAOSS1 is easy to use and fairly intuitive even if the interface is improved.
By the central control knob is convenient, it allows quick access to patches on the grounds of pre-recorded Arpeggiator and virtually all settings of the beast. (Tempo, tone ... etc ...)
The pad is very sensitive and responds very well. But playing a melody accurately is not easy.
The instrument is not for a complex and precise but clearly rhythmic loops of 8 measurement time, we must know.
Some have built a grid drawn in marker on a transparent plastic to restore a semblance of a keyboard. Not convincing!
Function "fixed" saves recorded walks right from the first and the same for the following. If an error occurs, you can always retrace his steps. (Watch live is not great because the "fixed" stops play)
In general, I always set the first loop (often a rhythm pattern ARP) before proceeding. In the middle of the song without interruption this time, I 'erases all back to my original saved and only reason I'm leaving ... on other layers. that nickel!

SOUND QUALITY

The sounds are quite interesting and well done overall but as always there is good and less good
(20% of the patches does not serve me I think) The style is 100% electro fishing with a good general.
There are excellent Lead (L15, L07, L09, L11 ...), the acoustic sounds are great as well and sometimes surprising because realistic enough for this little box (sax, trumpet, piano, flute ...)
I find the bass a little too "acid" but there are 2 or 3 more soft anyway. The drums and drum patterns are nickels and modulation of the pad changes a lot the architecture of the rhythm. The effects are quite spectacular (S60, S70, S76 and many more ...)
Finally, we would like a little more sound (I think Kaoss2 is about to go out offers 150 instead of 100 is better)
Overall, the instrument is geared for solo trips, I see less in a live band, for example, typed too! Too cool!

OVERALL OPINION

Bought used € 90 one month ago, the Kaossilator not leave me. Its main asset is its portability. Well protected in a pocket of népronème touch pad, it follows me everywhere. For loops solo at the office between noon and two, headphones on, it's best! And what a catch!

UTILIZATION

I play sythms/samples/beats for a pop/indie style band from time to time. It's something different from my usual jobs of guitar/producing. I really have a lot of fun doing this and I'm always on the lookout for new toys to use. I already own a few Korg products including the original Kaoss pad. I decided to get this just to see what I could do with it. The best part about these units is that you don't need a computer to make it work, which is a must for times when you don't have a laptop or yours goes down. Sure it doesn't have a keyboard but the patterns and scales make that an unneeded accessory. It's made to work on its own and it doesn't really integrate well with other units.

SOUND QUALITY

I've got to admit, this is a really fun thing to play with but in a real musical situation it can quickly become a headache. It's pretty limited out of the gate. Short looping, no sync ability, and the sounds that come stock are all you get. Kinda lame. It is really easy to use, however there isn't much depth to what you can do with it since it can't sync. The sounds are pretty decent on their own. Some are duds, but every unit is going to have that problem. Overall you get what you pay for in sounds.

OVERALL OPINION

Here's the bottom line. I can't really use this at a big show because it can't work with other gear. If I have a quick gig and no way to transport my usual synth rig, I can use this thing in a tight minute for most applications and some quick acting to go with it. For emergencies it's kind of a life saver although I've been in that situation before and I'll usually just spring for a Kaoss pad or even a micro korg or something. This is more like a second option, to be truthful. The real shame is how much better this unit could be if it had one or two extra features. But the fact that it doesn't really reduces it to more of a toy than an instrument. Still I have had a lot of fun with it, even though it's never helped me much in the professional sense.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had a week, and I find while adchire. The concept of the touch surface is excellent and I have in my possession a dj kaosspad 2 that will not leave me, be it scne or studio.

Korg Kaossilator the stroke hits hard, sounds are actually trs typs lctro, there are some sounds "sound" like a trumpet a bass, a flute and piano, dehirs of that I find these are the sounds the least usable and most cheap. However the sounds of synths are my standards got two three presets some rts but there is still over 90 who are really excellent.

The object in it even looks like a Fisher Price toy, but it's just that I was flat, the Kaossilator is super fun and it is an instrument that gives me new ides I n 'Will could not find a keyboard with lambda.

The touch pad is a bit small and play exactly the desired note, it must be prcis and not have big fingers to plug. After a few days of use I get to play the right note almost every time. What is gnial is the choice thanks to the button "scale" of scales and modes, and it's great beef can be full on a blues in B BMOL no problem.

The recording function of loops is really nice, it's much more usable than the rhythmically KP2 o it is almost impossible to record a hair sample pil of the beginning and thus the replay without white before. There is a small visual mtronome as the KP2 except that it is much smaller.

Function gate / arp gives rhythmic effects trs INTERESTED too.

For me, given the affordable price of bte, there are only two points on the Kaossilator ngatifs:

- No rglage output volume. There is only one volume headphone that does not work on RCA out. And the sounds are not all calibrated hair cell at the same level.

- A touchpad a little small, but it's also good that the intrt a fit in the pocket.

In conclusion I think that the Kaossilator is a Russianness undeniable for anyone who wants to have fun with a mini instrument while leaving the big sound electro, whether live or in studio. It's plug and play and it is a gnial too.

I waited six weeks before the bte hands, a victim of its success, silent out of stock.
