For how long have you been using it?

I use two EKS XP5 since early 2009 has virtually connected to a mixer, all this fuel using Virtual DJ.
Did you try many other models before getting this one?

Before, I was mixing exclusively with the Hercules DJ Control MP3, and the acquisition of these EKS XP5 has been a big step at all levels.
What thing do you like most/least about it?

More on:
- Jog touch and very responsive
- The ability to configure each button has a function thanks to the MIDI mapping in Virtual DJ
- Nice design to my taste
- Compact size
- The sound card of good quality

Minimum:
- Jog a bit small to my taste
- The hardness of certain keys and their size
- The weight is moved sometimes without express platinum because of its lightness
- The software comes with (Bison): I've never used and we would have preferred a partnership with a soft most famous.

What is your opinion about the value for the price? Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice? ...

Buy new is 300 euros per pair: unbeatable value for money.
With the experience I would do this choice because it is a multipurpose controller to fill a lot of features, reliable and robust enough despite its small size because two years of practice, it does not yet have signs of fatigue or wear.

- I like:

* the most: accuracy of the sensitive joggle / the quality in ASIO mode

* the least: pitch fader (too soft and without 0% tap).

- Gear I tested before:

* Hercules DJ-console, first generation: a toy! Not accurate, plastic knobs, high latency, 2 breakdowns in 2 years, too small, etc. Only advantage: very comprehensive connections, perfect for multimedia applications.

* Pioneer CDJ-200: Looks great but it's not sensitive. The vinyl feel is better with higher and more expensive models: cdj-800 and cdj-1000

* Denon dpdj-151 turntable: good turntable...

* Vestax pdx-d3 turntable: a jewel...

- Value for money

I bought them new and got a very nice price.

- Based on my experience, I would buy them again. I had been looking for something like this ever since the first Dj-Console came out and disappointed me... I use them with a SMAC PRO 40. It's a great setup to get an authentic mixing feel.

I don't own this product but I used it a while with Traktor on a Macintosh.
The controller has a slick look and it is very compact yet all functions are easily accessible.
I didn't have any handling problems in spite of my thick fingers.

The pros: small price, compatibility with lots of software, sound card and overall quality (in spite of the plastic look).
Another advantage is the possibility to mix and use the controller as an interface with a virtual turntable. In this case it has the same function as a CD player or a turntable.
Simply connect the EKS to the PC and connect the CD player and the turntable into the line inputs of the controller.

The pitch is big enough but it doesn't feel as strong as the one on the Technics SL-12*0 for example.

The jog wheel is big enough and also good quality, but I think it is too close to the gray scratch control and the pitch bend control.
It can lead to unwanted mistakes if you don't get used to the software.

Generally speaking it's a very good controller in spite of its weaknesses which just require some time to adapt.
I sincerely recommend this controller.
