« The fact that »
Published on 07/26/12 at 01:26I have this controller for just 24 hours, so my opinion may lack perspective.
This is the first midi controller that I have in my hands. But I already had the opportunity to have fun few days of combined turntables / mixing desk Berhinger / Denon entry / midrange and CDJ-2000/DJM-900.
Level look, it's not too plastok, except the central part that takes good fingerprints. Anyway, in the dark, no problem.
The AIR is small enough. It's embarrassing for the knobs that are a little too close to each other. It is rather light, but does not move through its non-slip feet.
Note that I used this controller with the beta of Mixxx (1.11) under linux. It is recognized directly (but I had already installed the drivers for Hercules RMX is perhaps why) and even Mixxx provides a preset mapping for AIR recently. However, it is a little buggy (I had to modify it to prevent it crashes). I have not tested yet on other software / OS.
His level, I did not notice any quality problems (it does not mean that there is none, I have not very fine ear). For cons, I find the output volume "master" very weak (no problem with the headphone output). I have to put my amp to the bottom, which increases the breath. This is perhaps due to my Linux driver ...
+ Jog-Wheels precise and comfortable size
- The infrared sensor is the best gadget at worst embarrassing. Indeed, it is too close to the knobs and tends to activate when touched ... it made me particularly uncomfortable for the mapping.
- The tempo faders are unclear at the center notch. We are left with two changes of BPM of a sudden, it's quite annoying.
For the price / quality ratio, I think it's hard to beat ... In any case, I have not found cheaper and so complete nine (except for the DJ control Instinct, which is really too plastok for my taste). After, I'd bet too much on life: p
