Drum Drops introduces a new virtual vintage drum kit for dub productions, available in three versions wether you use Kontakt or another software.

The 1970s Rogers Big R Dub samples a famous drum installed in the Ironworks Studio in Brighton, UK, that has been used by Horseman, Little Roy or Prince Fatty, among others. The kit was played by Horseman himself and recorded by Mike Pelanconi for Drum Drops.

The kit features a 24” x 14” kick, two 14” x 6.5” Ludwig Black Magic and 14” x 5” Ludwig Acrolite snares, a 18” x 16” floor tom and two 14” x 10” and 13” x 8” rack toms, completed with 15” Zildjian A Sweet hi-hats and 17” Custom A Custom crash.

Drum Drops also added a 14” timbale, a set of bongos and Mike Pelanconi recorded electronic percussions using a Boss PC-2 synth and a Tama Techstar TS-204 with up to 30 samples per articulation (modulation).

The library features recordings of multiple articulations (rim, center, edge, dampening…) and up to 16 velocity layers and 6 round robins are available.

The 1970s Rogers Big R Dub is available in three versions, including one for Kontakt 5 that offers, along with the samples, a full mixer for microphone control, a 4-band equalizer, a Transient Master, a Master Fader with built-in compressor, convolution reverbs that recreate the rooms of 4 studios and various iconic gear (EMT 240 Plate, Fairchild 659A…), as well as a randomization control to vary the tuning, velocity, EQ and timing. You can also change the velocity curve of each drum and use various mixing presets and MIDI mappings for the most common virtual drums (BFD, Addictive Drums, Superior Drummer, General MIDI…).

This version for Kontakt features 2352 samples and retails for 48€.

If you don’t owe Kontakt or want to use the kit with another sampler or virtual drum (Battery, EXS24 with Logic 9, Ableton Drum Rack, Reason 7, Maschine, Geist, iDrum…), you can choose the Multi Velocity Pack with 467 samples in 24-bit / 44.1 WAV format. Its price is 18€.

Last, the Single Hits Pack (9€) is designed for those who don’t need all the velocity layers or use drum machines (or the samplers and virtual drums above), with only 116 samples.
