Got this set in 2000 as a first kit, from Guitar Center for approx. $650.

The sound and quality for a set made of mystery wood (Pearl's website just says "wood") was better than expected.

Where to begin? . The wrap finish is okay for a wrap, but c'mon..wraps are a sign of cheap sets. The tom arms had a lot of difficulty staying in place. The snare was mildly bad at best. And the absolute worst thing about this set: the Pearl cymbals and heads it comes with...wow. I hit the cymbals once and literally threw them in the trash. Whatever Pearl drum heads are made of sure can't be what heads are supposed to be made of.

The drums were very light (not sturdy), so too was the hardware...…

The drums were very light (not sturdy), so too was the hardware it came with. Quality: 3/5

Looking back now, I realize how foolish I was to purchase this..mainly because back then I didn't know much about drums. Poor sound and mediocre quality for $650 is a RIP-OFF. When I decided it was time for an upgrade, I got a complete 6 piece all-birch drum set with lacquer finish and great hardware that all sound amazing for $800. Don't waste your time saving a little $, throw in $150 more and get a set you'll love.

Good drumkit to start, you get the insurance stuff ... PEARL
But make no mistake, the cymbals are well-supplied low quality! but once these cymbals exchange, and the drum head, we have a super drumkit that can last you a long time, easy to tune and to play.
It's solid, sounds like a must.
I do not regret my choice at all, I paid 800 in stores, seems to me a trs correct.

I put 8 / 10 was because of cymbals and skins, if anything was wrong for a drumkit of this range, but happiness!

I purchased this drumkit 3 years ago, and since I'm not complaining. Apart from the skins and cymbals are well mdiocres quality, the hardware itself is robust.
I did my drumkit evolve, and the sound is the bass drum captures the double. The snare drum with a minimum of rglage give super sound.

For a relatively low price for the stuff, even when it has a drumkit pearl in double base.
I have beginners on it and I would do this as often as you choose to grant me life.

The advantage is that the brand bneficie pearl so its service. (This is not ngligeable)

Think of the change.

To conclude, we can begin the drumkit of a pearl forum (FX), besides the fact that it is robust, we can keep it long and she throws.
I put 7 because the cymbals are not gniales and skins, and you can pa 10/10 put a drumkit in this range.

I can tell you that for beginners it is a good drumkit ...
The skins of origin, despite their low quality can produce good sound if properly RULES (and strength to be learned rgler), because at beginners, when I had him, I knew not shake To create a good sound, but now I found and I think it's impossible to have better sound than I have with the skins origins ...
But I advise all of ds to change even as you feel suprieur a beginners ...
Sold with the cymbal, bass quality will satisfy the needs of beginners, probably not expressed on a good cymbal sound.

For résumé, a good drumkit for beginners as well as evolve to a level high enough.
It can become trs INTERESTED if you know it added accessories like cymbals or pedals a double ...

In addition, quality-price ratio, I do not know if it's possible to beat. It sells for 550 times on some sites ...

The choice is yours ...

I put this note in relation to the quality-price ratio and global observations (because face a PEARL MMX, it does not weight).
