« Tama Starclassic Performer »
Published on 11/15/03 at 15:00fret music, southampton, united kingdom. cost wass somewhere like £1300 for the shells and the snare.
the kit has a dark and open tone and the projection is amazing. the drums are real versatile, every style sounds neat and they are super good to play.
it would be nice if the toms were not mounted on the bass drum is all.
all die cast hoops on the toms, wooden hoops on the bass drum, neat lugs and super thin birch shells (6mm toms, 7mm bass drum). the star cast mount system gives super good tom isolation for perfect resonance and the kit comes with a fairly decent set of heads. i have never heard a better bass drum than the starclassic birch 18" by 22". they look neat, too.
i like maple kits a lot, but i prefer the birch sound of tama's starclassic performer, it's cheap for what it offers.
