Idem, like the others....

It seriously lacks gain for vocals. The voice never comes through actually. It's simply an ultra-solid backup mic.

OVERALL OPINION

I only bought one, a long, long time ago. I personally use it as backup mic to record very high-output sources quickly and without hassles.... In short, bass, kick drum or guitars when the other mics are already taken... It sounds like shit, but it gains me some time when recording my personal demos. I have never cleaned it, it has fallen lots of times, I've used it more than 1000 times, and nothing...This mic is unbreakable, which makes it cool!

I also had a small akg as backup mic, but it didn't last more than a year.

It clearly sounds like shit, but at this price point, you can't expect much, can you?

And when you have some audio gear, someday someone will ask to borrow a mic for a karaoke evening with the family, your cousin's wedding or your town's bingo. In such cases you can always lend this one and keep your real mics safe. You can be almost sure that it will come back in good condition, especially as its weight and look inspire confidence and many people think it's a good mic.

So, in short, it's not recommended for a singer, but it will spare you many discussions with other people when they drop it.
It is also not recommended to record instruments, although I've used it frequently in that capacity. It's dreadful. But in the end, it's up to you.

To wrap it up, I'll say that this mic is indispensable for anyone who has friends. It's a great mic to lend, everybody is happy with it. I'm convinced that putting your money in it is protecting your better mics. ;)

A good deal? Secondhand, this mic costs $20 or so.
EDIT: It has finally died...It was bound to happen.
