The Sennheiser E 945 is a dynamic microphone designed for use both in the studio and on the stage, although I’ve only used it in the studio. While it has a similar look to an SM57, the sound quality is definitely different and for this reason has a different set of applications. The Sennheiser E 945 also has an awesome look to it, with a silver metallic finish on it.


OVERALL OPINION

I’ve been using the Sennheiser E 945 for about two years and it has become my go to microphone for recording the bottom of a snare drum. I usually record the top of a snare drum with a Shure SM57, and blend the two signals together to get a sound I am satisfied with.

For some reason, the Sennheiser E 945 excels beyond expectation when it comes to recording the bottom of a snare drum. It has a certain high end presence that is perfect for picking up the rattling of the snares and is without a doubt the best at what it does in terms of picking up this signal. Since it sounds so great on the bottom of a snare, I honestly have never used this microphone for anything else. I’m sure it would sound good in a few other situations, but I have never had the chance to try it out on anything else. Sennheiser E 945 isn’t too well known, but for those who do know it they know how great it sounds for snare bottom.


If you can find one of these used, which is pretty hard because they are pretty rare, the price varies and I would really only recommend it to the user who is either a professional or is recording drums all the time in their home studio. While it is truly a great microphone for recording snare bottom, I can’t speak to how good it sounds on anything else and would therefore recommend those interested to try it out themselves to see if it fits their personal use. All in all, the Sennheiser E 945 is a great microphone that not too many people known about.

I have used this Sennheiser E 945 in all kinds of recording situations. I use it mainly for recording electric and acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and vocals, but I have also used it to record full musical ensembles (including drums) and it reproduces the sound with amazing clarity. There is no background noise. This is the BEST usb microphone on the market. It is a condenser mic so it will pick up sounds accurately without coloring them. Another feature about condenser mics is that they are very sensitive; they don't "normalize" sounds like dynamic mics do. So recording with one is more difficult because you will have to keep constant volumes. You'll have to set the input volume on your computer very low if recording something loud, or else it will peak and sound broken and distorted; this is normal with all condenser mics. If you try to use a dynamic mic to record, it will have a "live" kind of sound to it (listen to Blink-182's self-titled album). Some people like that, but for a professional sounding recording condenser is the only way to go, and even though this one is most expensive one I tried (at $150) it was by far the best.

OVERALL OPINION

It has a metal casing, but as with all condenser mics, the insides will break before the outside if you don't take proper care of it. I treat mine with more care than any of my stuff; keep it in a safe place, away from moisture and risk of getting knocked over or hit. Use a pop filter when recording vocals to keep moisture away from it.

You could spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on a "pro setup"; get a mixing board, preamps, dedicated instrument mics, etc or if you just want to record one track at a time and have it sound great, get this for a fraction of the price

Made only Germany, chiefly super cardode for voice, I am not a connoisseur trs his technique, but like everyone else, the question is that is sounds good right?
I had a old sm58 trs and the diffrence is well known for my voice, Shure, and I think Ben was wrong.
I also bought an anti-pop I'll try when recording.
I saw in forums that removed the grill for taking guitar amp, I will try and stay again.

OVERALL OPINION

With this microphone the sound comes out easily, without having to shout into it (like some), a bump in the high frequencies adds presence and brings out the voice of the mix (qd interesting arrangements are in charge - ca allows the voice of no not disappear).

on the other hand, you must love the color and especially make sure that it fits well with the singer's voice!
I did not find this micro neutral or transparent as I have said several vendors.
With my voice, the sound seemed a bit unnatural, cooler than an example of BETA58A
shure.
So in the end, it's a good mic of its kind, but not to buy the ears closed, try before.
Me it did not fit well with my patch, the result was screaming, I sold after two months (against the guy who bought me was very happy).

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 5 months and I am "happy". Let me explain:

I had a E845 before which I was very happy, but I wanted to make a little fun. At first I was disappointed, the sound of my voice was less chrystallin, my faults further forward than the 845. In fact, the 845 is less neutral than the 945 and erased my fault (it was like when the bass and treble Boost for mixing, it is immediately more flattering, but you lose a bit of character ). I think the 945 is more faithful to the original sound, so it forces me to sing better!

After adaptation, I must admit that this micro brings more presence than the 845, but it is mostly more Péchu (higher output level, low and medium current and accurate, and a good mix of treble). I believe however that it hangs a little more feedback on my 845, but I recently went back in-ear so no problem on that.

In conclusion, I say to be careful. If you sing without ever having heard the 845 is more appropriate in my opinion as more "fun" with you.

Beware also if you like the sound of the 845 because it is not at all the same and better! Something else. Anyway, if you have a voice too Nazal home, it will perhaps not the right choice.

The Sennheiser E 945 is a dynamic handheld microphone designed for use with live vocals. The wonderful thing about the E 945 is that it has a supercardioid pattern, which, to be fair, is not so terribly rare these days, but it is worth mentioning because I personally prefer using supercardioid microphones to cardioid microphones for their rejection characteristics. Also note that this means that the microphone is no good for group vocals at all, because of how narrow their pattern is. You may be thinking, "These types of microphones are not designed for that anyway!" and you may be correct, but it does not stop them from being used in these ways anyway. The SM57, for example, can work on group vocals quite well when needed.

The Sennheiser has a nice frequency response of 40-18,000 Hz, which is typical in this line of microphones, and superior in this range compared to the other brands' competitors for the most part.

The microphone is also advertised to give more gain before feedback, and when testing this, I can confirm this is actually quite true, so if this is an issue, this microphone is one to consider!

The Sennheiser E 945 is a wonderful microphone for the price. Sure, it may be more expensive than the industry standards, but there is a tangible reason for it. The industry standards are workhorses, but vocal microphones are specialist microphones, and thus, I have only tested it on vocals. I am not sure whether these will fill a workhorse role as well as the venerable Shure models, but it cannot hurt to give it a shot if you really need a vocal microphone anyway!
