Published on 04/03/02 at 14:00 I BOUGHT THIS BASS AT A LOCAL STORE AND I PAID $300 FOR IT. I WAS IN BIND AND HAD TO HAVE A BASS FOR A JOB OPORTUNITY, SO THEY LET ME GET IT ON CREDIT. I STILL DON'T KNOW IF I GOT BEAT ON IT OR NOT THOUGH.
MY DANELECTRO BASS IS ALOT LIKE PLAYING GUITAR BEING THAT IT HAS A SHORT SCALE NECK. IT'S A VERY COMFORTABLE BASS TO PLAY, AND IS LIGHT WEIGHT TO BOOT. THE ACTION CAME FACTORY SET, AND WAS VERY GOOD. JUST ABOUT RIGHT. I'M FAIRLY SATISFIED WITH THE BASS.
THE STRINGS FIRST OFF WERE NOT TO MY TASTE. I PREFER GHS BOOMERS MYSELF, IT'S ALSO HARD TO FIND SHORT SCALE STRINGS. NOT ALL BRANDS HAVE A WIDE SELECTION FOR THAT. THE PICKUPS ARE NOT AS HOT AS I'D LIKE THEM, AND THE SUSTAIN ISN'T THE GREASTEST. THERE IS A SLIGHT BUZZ WHEN YOU GET UP ON THE FRETS BUT NOT BAD THOUGH.
THE QUALITY OF THIS BASS ISN'T BAD CONSIDERING IT IS A LOW END BASS. THE TUNERS ARE PRETTY GOOD, AND THE KNOBS ALL WORK FINE. THE NECK IS QUITE COMFORTABLE ALSO. SO FOR THE MONEY THE QUALITY ISN'T BAD AT ALL.
I AM NOT TOTALLY SATISFIED WITH THIS BASS, AND AM CURRENTLY SHOPING FOR A NEW UPGRADE. THOUGH OVERALL IT'S NOT A BAD BASS, AND HAS A CLASSIC TONE IF YOU LIKE THAT WITH THE LIPSTICK PICKUPS. THE LONGHORN IS A FAIR BASS FOR BEGINER TO MIDLAND.
