I opted for the Dean, made in China, because I liked his aggressive mouth, small kitsheries (knobs skull, circular saws on the button, ...) and because it was active (unlike the Fender).
The price was very attractive, half the price of "street price" (a shop selling off because it was closed).
The neck is thin, jazz bass type, all of the mechanical parts is correct, the strong point are the pickups: 2 Musicman style that paved dépotent well.
UTILIZATION
The handle is nice, fine and fast. Access to acute is very easy.
The weight is heavy enough, I have not weighed, but it's heavier than a Precision. Explore the shape changes, it is doing quite low, very rock n 'roll.
SOUNDS
Obviously, with a mouth like that and the config 'microphones, it's more for the big rock that task, and metal. Her name is Metalman, it's not for nothing.
Tested in a large SWR, Ampeg SVT, a big Laney, and at home on a micro Ampeg, the sound is good, very clear, and the bass is deep and fat.
I use it mainly with overdrive (Boss). It is bold but it's still accurate.
OVERALL OPINION
Many positives, a quality / price ratio. But the notice would not be complete if I did not mention the negatives.

-I Adjust the bass, and it took me a long time. I was not satisfied with the curvature of the handle, the height of the action, and it was very difficult to find settings that work for me to play. Removing the handle, change the bridge (too light), curvature of the handle ... in the end, I raised the heel side handle to tilt and offset failure.
Now that I have a comfortable satisfying game is a pleasure to play on.
I do not know if I would do this choice, I had other basses to have identical prices. For now, that plays his role well.
