Published on 07/12/03 at 15:00The quest began 3 weeks ago to aquire a new bass. On going aroound my usual stores in the North West of England I stumbled upon a brand I was not familiar with. After some surfing of the web I found a full run down on Schecter Basses. Not well known in the UK but Sound Control (based around the UK) are comprehensive stockists.
3 hours of bass plucking later and the Elite 004 was my weapon of choice at the bargain price of £499.99
What do I like about this bass...
Quite simply everything. The quality of this bass must be seen to be belived. The depth and veriety of sound of the guitar is amazing and after trying Music man, Fender, Ibanez and Warwick there was still no comparison to the Schecter.
I have to be honest and say that there is not one thing that I would change about this bass with a price ticket that reads about half of what I would have paid for this bass.
Buy this bass or miss out.

BRIDGE: Diamond Custom
TUNERS: Grover
BINDING: Creme on neck
FRETS: 24 Medium
ELECTRONICS: EMG Hz w/2-Band Active EQ
FINISH: Black Cherry w/Black Hardware
The depth of the finnish on the body is just amazing with the shape beig a perfect blend of modern with a hint of retro beveling over the fingerboard area.
Just picking up this bass lets you feel the craftsmanship and quality of the materials used.
Having played and owned numerous bases on the last 20 years it is safe to say that from this point on Schecter will be my first point of call for any purchases in the future.
The feel and playability of each of the basses in the range is quite different so try the Stiletto Deluxe, Custom, Elite and Studio along with the 004 Elite. For me the 004 was perfect but as we al know it an individual thing so get down and try them all becuase there will be one that feel great for you.
This will be the best bass you have ever played.
I love this bass and want it to have may children, need I say more!
