Low made in Britain in the early 1990s. These are the first models with head Status.
The neck-through, recalling the form of a round of Precision is the key carbon and 24 cases and phenolic resin. There is no neutral, each note is present throughout the race.
2 Status Hyperactive pickups with active electronics BT42 powered by two 9V batteries. 4 pots: volume, balance microphones, high and low. Switch cut or boost the equalizer.
The body is usually alder, and the wood used for the table are very varied: walnut, maple, cocobolo ...
The quality of violin making is impeccable, and electronics and hardware.
It is beautiful and strong at once.

UTILIZATION

The handle is a real motorway: VERY low action without frets that border, really easy access to acute and comfort of the handle in the palm of the hand.
The balance is very good between the head body, this bass does not sting the nose.
It weighs no more than 4.5 pounds, light enough so, which is very valuable when you have to play several hours together. Enjoy my back compared to the weight of my Jazz Bass!
Get a good sound with this bass? Nothing more simple: you plug your amp and it sounds right away. You will not spend hours to get sound.

SOUNDS

Contrary to what one might expect with a low up to 40% carbon, the sound is very round and warm (low midrange hum) but still very clear and well defined (advantage of carbon). The highs are powerful when they are boosted low frequencies but can also shake the walls of your local repeat if you abuse! The dynamic is énrome and is not a gift to the slightest false note. In fact, there are the sounds of a good Jazz Bass but with perfect definition throughout the range of frequencies with significant power but under control.
So it's super versatile bass. In fact I use it both for playing blues, jazz, rock and Celtic music!
To report a definite plus louse lovers slap - that mind-blowing!.

OVERALL OPINION

I have no complaints about this bass. I own several basses (Jazz Bass, Stingray ...), but the Status is the bass I use most live in the studio because of its versatility (and light weight!).
A defect? not much, the price may be, and even for a bass luthier is given, I paid about 1400 euros used, but new it was worth more than double the time.
So the choice I would do again in a heartbeat, this last detail that this model of Status is no longer produced and has become quite rare to find used. In addition, current models of Status (Kingbass and Classic Series 2) were not at all the same sound as my Status Matrix and sound very hi-fi, more like a Spector.
