UTILIZATION
The XZ-25 is very easy to play. The high frets are easily accessed, and the action can be set very low. The neck carve and fretboard radius make for an incredibly comfortable playability factor, and the lack of a headstock provides for great balance. The tuning machines are very stable, and the bridge hardware has been expertly machined. It's a touch on the heavy side, but no more so than an old P-bass.
SOUNDS
The pickups are surprisingly good. I was expecting to need to change them out upon purchase, but they actually put out a good variety of tones for fingerstyle, slap and pop, tapping, and pick-style. The electronics are a touch weird, in my opinion - two volumes and a tone? I'd rather have a volume, blend, and tone - the resultant sound would be nearly identical, but upon turning down (for song endings, etc), there would only by one volume knob needed to use.
OVERALL OPINION
For the price, this bass is way better than anything else out there. The low B has no flab, the string spacing is wide enough to slap yet tight enough to play fingerstyle comfortably, and the pickups are nice. The neck is the real jem on this, but then again, that tuning system is fantastic... I have a lot of positive things to say about the Steinberger XZ-25 Spirit series bass, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

I have the MODEL of the previous gnration identical in every point exept the microphones that are better on this one (EMG select)
She is 5-string configuration, 2 humbucker.
The bridge is the patented Steinberger by: easy to adjust, changing strings and tunings 2 min ultra simple. there have no equivalent elsewhere.
Independent volume controls for 2 microphones and overall tonal: simple and effective, it does not rotate in space as with certain gas works
is a 24 frets with a pitch of 34 inches. standard 18 mm space between the strings. comfortable and soft with a varnish correct.

UTILIZATION
The handle is well made, it is a good compromise between the sleeve vintage not seem to match the modern style (although it's a personal point of view) and the sleeves that give TGV cramps.
The access to conplet is acute and I use the entire range of the instrument with ease (and I am a very modest amateur)
SOUNDS
The instrument has a real personalis sound like my Ergodyne, but his versatility is exemplary. I play such important jazz progressive rock, some funk and metal
I usually connects to my harkte 3500 or directly into my preamp / multiFX BP 200.
the sound is warm without being mushy, full and defined harmonics, slap the brilliant but never aggressive. That said the sound is a complex chain from fingers to pregnant through microphones, preamps, cables, amps and sometimes minds
OVERALL OPINION
I use it now for over two years (purchase 05-2002) and I will not change it. A colleague introduced me to the new model (> 2003) and the sound even more fishing. (Thank you EMG) I have the opportunity to touch a lot of instruments because of my profession (assistant - ing according to the c) c and for the price a bargain. I'd pay 780 euros at the time. (Catalog price of 900 euros)
I intend to keep it and I recommend it to all those who want a 5 string tater easy, reliable and price.
