    Yamaha RBX 270 Left Handed

    Yamaha RBX270LPublished on 10/01/05 at 15:00
I have been playing for around a year now, I'm at areasonable standard, playing mostly funk and rock with the occasional bit of jazz

I bought the RBX270L from Chappels of London, for £200. However I have since seen it online for around £175 although I can't remember where. I needed a beginners bass that was capable of playing multiple styles of music.

This bass has a tendency to buzz, especially if you try to tune to drop d. This can be rectified with a good set up, however it is very hard to get the settings right, and everything tends to slowly slump back to it's old position. The tuning pegs go out of tune quickly.

It's built very well, solid construction always seems to be common with Yamaha, however a lot of the parts are quite cheap, the tuning pegs in particular are not very good

This bass is ok if you can get it at a low price, however I would advise you to look at something else, for example a Crafter or a Dean.
