« Digitech RP200 Multi-Effects Processor »

Published on 12/13/01 at 15:00
I purchased my RP-2000 through the Musicians Friend website. I bought this because I had owned a Digitech RP-10 since 1994 and it was, for the most part, a very diverse, reliable, and technically advaced effects processor. I had some comfort in knowing that I wouldn't be disappointed in a Digitech product. Someone spilled a Bloody Mary on it at gig my band was playing. We tried wiping all the liquid off of it, opening it up and propping a fan up to it to dry it out but, nothing worked, it was dead. I had used that piece of equipment for 6 years. I had grown to like my Digitech RP-10. It was time to find a new one.

This pedal is so diverse. It's got 2 acoustic channels that sound almost exactly like the real thing. The CC pedal is great because you can use is to control any effect you like. Also, it has an on/off switch in the center of it. I mainly use that to turn on/off the wah. There are several different distortion channels from the deep crunchy Metallica Mesa Boogie style sound to the 70s Tweed sound. It also has all the standard effects such as chorus, delay, reverb, phaser, etc. I especially like the drum beat. It has around 30 preprogrammed drum rhythms that play through your amp along with your guitar. You can only change the tempo, drum volume, and patterns. Don't worry, they don't cancel each other out. It also has a talkbox feature that I haven't really messed with too much. To me, it's kind of a novelty but hey, if you're into Peter Frampton.....

I really can't find too much wrong with this unit. I would like to see a drum machine that is programmable. Also, some things could be made easier to program but overall, this unit is an excellent piece of equipment. It's well worth the price.

I like the solid stainless steel shell. It's a tough unit that should stand up to even the rowdiest of gigs.

Very diverse, solid, well though out design. I would recommend this unit to anyone thinking of getting an effects processor but doesn't want to pay $1000+.
