Easy to install and use most.
For use, it's just the card I was dreaming. After Isis guillemot and EMU 1820M, I thought that such a product existed.
I just wish (but few) in the absence of sampling 192MHz. But ultimately, I do not lose sight of it to burn to CD (44.1MHz) and auditory quality (subjective) converters is very good.
UTILIZATION
Installation is very simple but be aware that the latest version of Windows handles poorly firewire (SP2). You should download a patch on the Microsoft site. See the procedure on the Presonus site (in English in the text). We must choose against by the language of the patch to be the same as the version of Windows.
The manual could not be more succinct. But all is well when you're not really a beginner. I just had a little trouble to reach record from the SPDIF input. For that, we had set on the same frequency, same resolution and SPDIF external clock. If I had known, I saved time. But I had so many problems with other hardware that it seems to me exemplary.
GETTING STARTED
Very stable. on the other hand Cubase LE that comes with the plant fairly regularly (about once in ten) when I record the VSTi. Just tie together the software and it goes away.
If I put the latency below 4 ms, I get some nasty cracks. But 4 ms is acceptable.
I have not pushed beyond four simultaneous tracks. No problems found.
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for two months. What I like is the sound and ease of use. For a while, I would need a external mixer.
What I like least is the apparent fragility of the potentiometers, but at this price ... That's why I keep my mixer in fact.
Before the presonus, I had an Isis, which was good for its time and with whom I had a lot of satisfaction but the sound, the possibilities and ergonomics have nothing to do with the FIREPOD. Then I met an unfortunate experience with EMU 1820M which sound quite good (perhaps most aggressive), and very complex to use, I have also not had the time to understand everything, it I was released after ten days ...
I would do the same choice again.
