«  Small but powerful! »

My choice was motivated by the size of the beast, to the number of inputs / outputs. Presence of Midi ports, Preamps and converters ... quality and reputation.
Used primarily on voice (Shure SM 58) and taken guitar (Vigier Excal.) Or Electro-acoustics.
SONAR runs with Win XP - Old CPU E6600 pushed 3Ghz, 2GB RAM ... (Yes, it still exists. Seeking moreover a Q9550 for cheap ...)
System dedicated solely to computer music, I said. (Or Linux Fedora)

UTILIZATION

Stable drivers (Updated regularly) imperceptible latency for me (Projects reasonable ;-)
I never recorded more than 5 tracks simultaneously (Ok) and read??? No idea how many tracks that "passes" in reading.

GETTING STARTED

Installation -> RAS
Config and use the mixer a bit more difficult (There's also stuff that I have not yet understood ...)

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for several years (I know!) And have never tried before another system. The only problem now is that the Firewire port begins to become scarce on laptops (except QLQ typed Pro models) So if the choice was again ............. j 'expect the same in USB 3!
