« Excellent card to buy! »
Published on 02/24/11 at 13:00What characteristics have motivated your choice?
Number of audio inputs and noon, the brand deemed serious.
With which instruments or systems (console, preamp, DTD ...) and you use the connection with what? ...
Everything is so connected over synths / racks Jacks / Midi.
For what purpose?
Home studio.
What is your config (Motherboard / CPU / Ram / Disk ,...)?
Dell Core 2 Duo at 2.16 GHz, 4M cache and 1 GB of RAM + HDD Maxtor 320 GB USB 2, 7200 trs with 16 MB buffer.
UTILIZATION
The drivers are stable? Yes and no update (useless)
What software do you use most often? Sonar 6 XL
How many tracks do you manage to record / playback simultaneously?
I'm just the track to track rating.
What latency you get? 23 ms, I could be less but I do not seek the perfs. Everything is ok at this value.
GETTING STARTED
The installation is done it without problems?
A breeze!
The general configuration is easy?
Almost plug and play without doing anything!
Have you experienced any incompatibilities?
No.
The manual is clear and sufficient?
I do not know why I did not open.
OVERALL OPINION
For how long have you been using it? 4 years
Did you try many other models before getting this one? Yes the ST Audio adda 2000 that sounded too cold and lacking in dynamics.
What thing do you like most/least about it? Its transparent, retains heat well, the curves ...
We can stack the tracks without any problem, I went up to 80.
We have time before the stack of plugs in saturates the map, in fact it is the CPU saturates by the card.
The dynamic is enormous, I would climb to over 5 dB digital is rare.
There is a flaw, cool the card is malfunctioning, the firewire is not detected or is detected and the audio sync skid, wins ...
I confess I do not know if the laptop or the card.
So I'm preheating and then after that nickel!
It's a great card and I buy it back with eyes closed or model above the FW1884.
