what motivated my choice: I wanted a mobile config, so a map, not too big to use live with a laptop and not USB ...
In terms of input / output, I wanted to at least one high impedance input to connect a skyscraper, a line, a link to connect a MIDI master keyboard and pedals.
This board has everything I wanted, plus a scroll wheel (very practical use), and buttons that send MIDI notes, so assignable to any function in the software. In this case Ableton Live.
Pc config: it is a fujitsu / siemens amilo pi2530: intel core2duo 2 GHz, 2 GB DDR2, Windows XP SP2
UTILIZATION
- Simple installation without blurs.
- Configuration ... oh well it is configured? yeah there is a small control panel that selects the sample rate, buffer size, and choose multiple mode of operation of LEDs around the dial (tuning inside! pity that the LEDs are not blue. ..)
- The manual, I just read the installation tips ...
GETTING STARTED
- The drivers are stable?
it looks stable, I had some problems with random cracks and unsightly Live at first, but I think it came from the soft, not the drivers (I tried it with cubase, it did not)
- Are they often updated?
I made one for now, but the card is not old
- What software do you use most often?
live
- What you get lag?
23 ms ... There's better, but it goes
[edit 09.12.08] In fact, I managed to get much lower through the buffer to the mini, and without cracking]
- How many tracks you get to record / play time? ...
my goal is to run, not necessarily win the race ... I have not tried seriously
OVERALL OPINION
- How long have you use it?
So it's still fresh, it's been one week, but I would not say how many hours I spent ... I tested the endurance before using really live.
[edit 9/12/08] Well, she did not always betrayed ... it's ok, I totally trust him now!
- What is so special that you like most and least?
most: I love the wheel, and buttons that send a signal noon, and the meter as stereo
what could be improved (but I chipotte, considering the price): keys for MIDI and the wheel, I would have liked to change their transmission channel ... can be via a future update of firmware / drivers? hope.
- Have you tried many other models before buying it?
not. this range is not in any case.
- How would you rate the quality / price?
can not be beat so far (at least for my use)
- With experience, you do again this choice? ...
yep!
on the other hand, I have two small problems:
- I feel that the info Sustain (CC # 64) may be zapped by the card. So, I sometimes sound that relaxes when my pedal is depressed, and sometimes the reverse. Not too annoying because I am a frustrated the sustain pedal, and so zap the card support, y'en quickly behind another ... but it may be surprising.
- I have not been able to use the entry "foot switch" ... it sends me anything noon in live: - / [edit 12.09.08] sorry, I had to drink that day, it works well
go, 9 because of these two minor issues
