Good material in general but it depends on usage. Do not breath very little remarkable that materials at this price.
A eq. parametric increments would have been a plus. on the other hand, design errors are obvious (see below).
Other than that, the firewire works well but requires that the console is launched before booting the PC.
UTILIZATION
We mainly use a repeat, and there it is great. For a group, can without additional wiring, save x tracks, a set, song, bass (I use a Hartke Bass Attack System output with ID), brass, percussion ... Absolut is a must. Otherwise we would have been obliged to buy a console with a direct out and Edirol FA-101, for example cable and every time.
I use it as a registry for models as or lives, fine.
on the other hand, glaring errors in design of the device: the A / D converters are post-fader and post-eq. without the possibility of bypass. There is not really understandable. Not a sound engineer would have called that. I leave the eq. zero but it is not worth a by-pass and I let my faders to 0 dB. That said, I hope this error is not wired in hardware and will be corrected by a firmware one day.
The general use is very simple.
SOUNDS
Quite clear, little wind.
OVERALL OPINION
- Have you tried many other models before buying it?
Yes, fifteen years, a lot of models
I use the Alesis Multimix 16 firewire for two months.
The recording should have been just after the gain before the equalizers ... that's all.
I'm not completely OK with remarks on the plastic side. It is light, compact, I take her everywhere with a laptop, you've got an eight tracks for 16 Kg!
Same for the fact of not having to insert the loop, it's true, but there are mainly for use as I did. Generally, there has been flat and used the effects of our soft drinks, then insert the loop is to live. I can not find it to be made for live. Is very limited. For me, its strong asset is to be firewire. I recommend to someone who does not record multitrack.
- With experience, you do again this choice? ... Yes, it's clear.
