« A beautiful grain »
Published on 11/16/12 at 02:59Analog pedal germanium shop at fulltone.
Very true to what the brand usually offers: solid construction, handmade (serial number engraved on the pedal) and true bypass
Two features:
- Reverse Polarity: need to add to your diet extremity of a polarity inverter (Cost: 5 €)
- The tone knob works the opposite of what we find on od or distortion pedal classic ie loaded to its acute 8:00 to 4:00 p.m. its low charge.
UTILIZATION
3 knobs decorate the box settings: a level, a tone and a dirt (which manages the level of fuzz). No manual, just a little note manufacturer's enough.
The settings are very subtle, knobs interact more efficiently than the od / distortion traditional. The pedal is also very sensitive to changes in volume on the guitar.
I use it with a clear and typed fender les paul with the volume at 13H, the dirt and the tone almost fully (so around 16:00): its bold guaranteed! Can also be from a crunch but beware seriously reduce the level of dirt to maintain clarity.
-1 on the other hand for access to the battery: you must unscrew the base with 4 side screws and I struggled a lot to put the base.
SOUND QUALITY
Excellent, beautiful qualifiers do not miss, you get screaming sounds but still very musical and singing not aggressive.
It can give a sacred thickness to your sound with incredible sustain lead with a grain 70's (hendrix, led zep, for example) or the vintage modern black crowes example. It makes you want to play psyche!
I also tested the coupling with other pedals
- With a wah placed before soulbender is downright intoxicating, a little wah boosting the signal I reduce the volume a bit on the guitar and there you can talk to your guitar like a hendrix: completely enjoyable!
- With a fulltone plimsoul placed before the fuzz (it makes me so following chain: guitar> wah> plimsoul> fuzz) is not bad either.
I use plimsoul with a gain set to minimum and let the soulbender with a somewhat probing rate fuzz and overdrive sound gets a color slightly "fuzzy." The resulting sound is a slightly less dirty in this case, and the record is a little more modern.
However, some settings are not tjrs proved very successful, especially when I use the bridge pickup with a low rate of fuzz, some notes tend to remain muted. This is why I prefer to let the dirt almost set up and adjust the rate of the volume on the fuzz guitar.
OVERALL OPINION
Extremely satisfied with this pedal is an open door to give expression to your lead parts, pedal to get a good mix.
Can also have fun snapping rhythm to play the classic rock (Sunshine of your love, for example) with a sound very similar to those heard on the recordings of the 70's (tested over the first led zep, soul bender was very faithful). By adding treble with the tone knob you can get sounds more "stoner" more modern, so polyavalente still this little wonder.
I had never owned a fuzz before, so I can not compare with other products but in all cases the sound I draw suits me perfectly.
