Thread non-sophisticated recording studio query

Hi, I'm looking to do this:

- record with an electric or acoustic/electric guitar thru BOSS GT 6 Effects pedal, and thru the laptop
- record vocals thru a laptop
- use speakers/monitors to listen to recordings as well as normal speakers through which I can also play my mp3s on my laptop

Equipment I think I need:
- laptop+software (Apple Powerbook 1GB RAM + Garageband)
- preamp like M-Audio Pre USB or Firewire Solo/410
- monitors/speakers to listen to the guitar or vocal input

Setup I think I need:
For the Guitar:
Guitar-->BOSS GT 6 EFX Pedal-->M-Audio Preamp-->Apple Laptop

2 Monitors/Speakers

For the Vocals:
Mic --> M-Audio Preamp-->Apple Laptop

2 Monitors/Speakers

Big Q: AM I RIGHT? I hope ppl can correct me on where I'm wrong, and point me in the right direction. Thanks a lot! =)

Sorry, the arrows pointing to 2 Monitors/Speakers were meant to be under the M-Audio preamp for both cases. Thanks a lot!
