Axeman,
thanks for your time. I'm just starting out with the home recording, mostly for fun to expand on my song ideas and mess around creating stuff with friends, but id like to be able to grow into more professional recording. I have a PC Laptop, 1.8 P4 Centrino, 1 gb RAM, 80 GB HD, M-Auido Firewire 410, a cheap condenser mic and my guitars. Id like to start out recordinig acoustic guitar, ben harper-esque tracks and layer rhythm and lead guitar tracks, mess around with effect and eventually drop in some beats. At this point i dont even know what software to use. I have Ableton Live Delta and Reason Adapted (both of which came with the Fire 410) and Sound Forge. What do you recommend? Please advise ASAP.

Thanks,

TJ

P.S. I'm buying some montiors this week!!

Probably the two most common are Cubase and Cakewalk. I am a Cakewalk guy. Cakewalk Home Studio is about $89. I use Sound Forge for mastering.
