Boss EQ-20 Graphic Equalizer

What Roland Boss tells you that you get, is what you get. In this case, it's a graphic equalizer for guitar with 10 bands and nine memory slots along with a single setting you can change as you like.
The bands on the pedal are predetermined, as with all other graphic equalizers. The technology utilized in this one, is a mix between analog and digital, as you set the bands with physical faders, but store the presets on a chip.
If the presets then run out through an analog fader or use a digital circuit to recreate the EQ settings. Although it is part digital, you can't program it through a computer.

UTILIZATION

The general setup and editing of the parameters on the equalizer is simple. So simple in fact, that you should not need to have a look at the manual and a young kid would be able to do it (granted, the new generation is schooled with computers in general!)
The problems arise, when you want to use a preset. You need to change preset with your fingers, as there are no footswitch for this function. This is a huge problem, if you want/need to change the preset during a performance. It's a big drawback, and you can have as many memory options as you want, but if you're not able to access them, when you need them - what does it help then?

SOUND QUALITY

The quality of the equalized signal is good. As with other pedals changing the level of your signal (i.e overdrive and distortion effects), remember to balance out the input and output!
From the factory, they give you six presets for guitar, and three for bass. These are a good staring point, if you are not sure how to use the pedal in the right way.

OVERALL OPINION

It's a fine pedal, but not one that I will recommend to much, as you have the huge issue of not being able to access the presets in an easy way, during a performance. Look at the baby brother like the GE-7 or the MXR products. They cost a bit more compared to what you get, but the quality and simplicity is much better.
If you don't have any issues changing presets with your hands, go for it.

UTILIZATION

only with preset EQ? I think so! incredible that some other true bypass fan has not issued an an analog equivalent ....
So the pedal is very simple when you know what you search!
the presets are very handy even if you can not change from one to the other is in a constantly underfoot anyway so sounds increased from 3 feet (bypass / manual / preset) manual is flawless
I put 9/10 for changing presets because it is not as bad as its in my eyes ...

SOUND QUALITY

bha boss as often we say that there is better elsewhere but not here ...
in addition to memory this pedal is much more transparent than mxr (when in operation, bypass the mxr is true bypass so transparent)
it delivers true crystal clear sounds and can transform almost any vintage distortion by distortion of metalheads ultra modern (to the environment as little as she remained quiet and allow the busy PLACE in the mix guitar.
a must for group play or for crazy curls like me because it is not about having a super rich on all frequencies, but sound in agreement with each other and therefore severe left on bass example ... Cut 2 or guitar sounds for her take on another dimension to listen

OVERALL OPINION

not ready to change!
bought used there is a time and still a blast!
the day EQ out with so many possibilities in a compact pedal size .... and true bypass .... and analog .... and best quality .... I will think to part with, so not for now!
it is no longer produced so I guess I demand pressure should leave and we can lay a new version with a more powerful "dsp" ....

UTILIZATION

A child of ten could do it! very simple and intuitive. That said this is only equalizer

Trs simple. There are 9 factory presets (6 for three guitars and the bass). Qualiser possibility of manual mode. Convenient because it can then save it. It lacks a switch to fill juggle plusioeurs sounds on scne. However, I bypass the problem using the three possibilities of the pedals. Namely
- The sound of the bass in bypass mode
- A record in the memory equalization
- Another manual mode

- The manual is clear and sufficient? ...
Trs relatively complete

I give 9 / 10 for lack of a switch that incremented every preset and equialisations registered.

SOUND QUALITY

- Effects are they effective, suitable and adequate ralistes?
Excellent results! The pedals Ragit trs well. Be careful to use the mode battery or a power supply preferences BOSS. Avoid other brand because the tensions, the powers and the polarities are not always comptaible and you risk a nice hum.
