«  THE analog delay that I wanted for bass! »

Published on 01/01/12 at 03:19
analog delay with modulation malekko expensive, made in United States.
compact, easy to fit in a pedalboard.
the look is very nice and we feel that the red paint is here to stay and survive without harm to the repeated blows of my rangers;)
then the chard has 5 knobs and two switches.
3 are the knobs for the part delay: they regulate the delay time, the amount of repetition and feedback. is simple, effective, we ask no more for analog delay! (Note that the knobs do not move a muscle! That's good!)
then the other two knobs are for adjusting the modulation: speed and depth of it. not complicated either! the knobs are a bit small and close together, it can be boring for a shot without changing settings inadvertently, but c'y done! (Pi and once it's set it for the benefit of move!
one of the two switches used to activate or not the modulation and the other to switch to bypass mode buffer.
connectivity issue, one IN, one OUT, a standard 9V power supply on the side.
there are also three LEDs, one to see the pedal is aluminum or not, another to see it the buffer is enabled or not, and yet another to see the modulation is turned on or not, and also know the speed of its cycles. one more for the leds, really handy!

Just a small point one can damage the modulation can not be activated at the foot ... But I quibble! : P

UTILIZATION

Note that I use exclusively on LOW (musicman stingray 4 strings):)
Manual ... euuuuu? what??? : P

SOUND QUALITY

I tested it together with a carbon copy of MXR expensive, so I can compare the two.
for the delay: excellent! it sounds vintage, rehearsals e degrade nicely over time. they can least one "dark" as the carbon copy, a bit more shiny, but it is in the same style. the delay time is I believe the same on both pedals, ie 550m I remember it well, which is more than enough! pushing the settings, you can leave in beautiful self-oscillations, nice for the end pieces;)

for modulation: then there must love on the other hand since modulation, unlike the MXR is barely audible, is very present. it is neither a chorus or vibrato, it's really special. it changes the height of the rehearsals, but it is much more pronounced than vibrato. it's hard to squeeze in a bit but it's really cool to experience.

the switch buffer / bypass, the difference is minimal between the two. the sound is a little longer "clean" in buffer, but the difference is not really obvious!

for my use, I used to "grow my sound" in clean or distortion. I use it really to make a discrete echo, but that makes my sound for arpeggios or overdrive is largest. for a delay over this, I have a DSD-3 (not DD-3!) of cheap boss that I completely agree!
I recall that I used on LOW;)

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for several days. I tested the carbon copy simultaneously. frankly, the two delays are worth it, but malekko prevails because no need to tamper with the pedal to adjust the modulation and it is much more interesting than the MXR.
I would do surely this choice, but I think it will last me over time.
value for money is very good, knowing that the MXR is 20 euros more expensive and that the modulation is not configured to "front" (obligation to fiddle inside).
I'm very happy. bassists friends or scratch (so not jealous!: p), it you want a nice little analog delay, go for it!
