« Great pedal »
Published on 04/04/11 at 21:14This pedal is labeled a fuzz pedal and it can do that, but it does so much more. This pedal is great tone for those going for a modern rock tone. The range that the gain makes is widely open and busy. It has a very articulate distortion and fuzz tone than makes sustaining tones easy all day long.
- Size: 112mm (4.4"), 72mm (2.8"), 90mm (3.5")
- Weight: 420g (14.8 oz)
- Control: Level, Low, High, Dist.
- Ports: IN, OUT
- Power: DC 9V, 9V battery, 6mA
UTILIZATION
This pedal is very easy to use and control. It has only four control knobs which is quite standard in most distortion boxes. This unit is very midrange focused and the high and low EQ knobs level out that natural Mids focus from this pedal has. The more you up the gain the more gain obviously you get, but it goes into fuzz territory maxed out which is quite unique to this pedal.
SOUND QUALITY
The sound quality is one of AMT's best efforts. They are very well known for their great sounding pedals and this one comes in at or around the top. The sound is unique but very accomplished in the gain territory.
These pedals will sound very good in almost any amp or any guitar. I like AMT mostly with a humbucker pickup guitar and a fairly clean amp. Preferably a Marshall since most of these pedals blend great with an JCM 800 type circuity.
OVERALL OPINION
This is a very prepared pedal that is well equipped to accomplish a fantastic tone. I'm am not a huge distortion pedal fan as I get most of my gain and distortion from my overdriven amp, but this pedal is an excellent pedal that sounds very natural and real.
I would recommend this pedal to anyone looking for a budget pedal and needs a new modern high gain tone for your band or record. They come in new at a round $110 which is amazing for the amount of options you get from this unit.
