From a clean overdrive distortion through ... VERY VERY versatile!

SOUND QUALITY

Pffffff! A TUE-RIE !! Ze sound I was looking for many years !! an overdrive to do the turn pale tou tube amp! ingalable a precision c ca wish jerky has not spit a bit the sound is very late!
A similar distortion accuracy of all !! the distortion sounds even own very effective, that we have a c envis up the volume! c net and flawless c artist of work!
Even included is a clean warm proves that s.
There are only the extreme of the tonality that are not particularly intressante ..
There was the famous response of the lamps when played over mutes do not vomit you know what I mean ?!

Our friends told us that underneath it is noisy I do not know if he speaks of breath but tou if I don t have a blast gram even in single coil ...

3 pots, it's simple but effective
A little bulky height, but easily box on a pedalboard.

UTILIZATION

Editing sounds simply dazzling efficiency
Unique interaction between the distortion and filter.

SOUND QUALITY

I use it all with a Strato with a 335 or a SG, so Gary Moore or ZZ Top.
Having any kind of pedals, I can say that the sound quality of the RAT
is the top level. More amp is good, more is realizes.
Transparent pedal, "Singing" and responsive to attack.
Does not bleed into the bass and treble aggressiveness is easily controllable with the filter.
It can also inhibit the Fuzz side with double and maintain good reactivity (how Guns & Roses).

OVERALL OPINION

Pedal and unbeatable cheap, despite the overall increase in quality (and price!) New pedals on the market.

I wanted something that sounded really nasty and mean so I bought the RAT. It was only £5 as well! The old man behind the counter told me to look after it (I bet they have great after sales service too!).

Well, it does look kinda mean, but thats about it. And that would be the only thing I like about it. Its big, brown and hairy. But it does scare all the other bands off the stage when its time for me to go on!

What dont I like? Well I got this thing right out of the box and OUCH! It wasnt happy anyway I can tell you that! A quick trip to the doc for a tetnis shot and I was back to my room, trying to plug it into my amp...but the pink cord coming from the back of it just didn't fit.

I think the construction is VERY bad, first time I stepped on it I heard it crunch beneath my foot and it gave out a loud wail. A few stamps later and there was no sound coming from it at all! A very lifeless pedal to say the least.

This thing sucked! I'm never buying a RAT again to beef up my sound!

It is therefore a distortion pedal with a touch fuzzy though.
This is a model of 87, so with the famous "LM308".

UTILIZATION

Three buttons distortion, filter and volume.
I have no gear easiest to fix, apart from my booster LPB-1 ...


SOUND QUALITY

I use a Epiphone Les Paul Standard, on my amp H & K Edition Blue clear sound.

OVERALL OPINION

About a year it has replaced my Boss SD-2 as soon as I played three notes on it.
I use it in conjunction with a Maxon OD-808.

This is exactly the sound I was looking at disto, nasty but hot!

The ProCo Sound RAT is an analog distortion guitar pedal. It has a 1/4 inch input and output and is not a rackable unit as it is a foot stomp box. It needs some sort of nine volt power to run on.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the ProCo RAT is really simple and straightforward. It simply has three knobs - one for distortion level, one for filer (EQ), and one for volume level. It is easy to get a thick sound from this and is easy to manipulate the different parameters to get a sound that suits your needs. I don't have a manual for this, so I don't know how useful it is when learning this pedal.

SOUND QUALITY

The distortion sound from the ProCo Sound RAT is really thick and full. I would recommend this if you are looking for some really heavy, metal-like distortion for your guitar. I have only used this with guitar and it probably isn't all that useful for other instruments or genres other than metal or hard rock. Turning the distortion all the way up will give you a huge tone that is great for getting that fat distortion tone heard on many metal records.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the ProCo Sound RAT for about two years. While somewhat narrow in its ability, for getting a thick distortion sound it sounds really great. I would use this more for big rhythm playing rather than lead, but will work fine for both. It is hard to find a pedal that has as thick of a tone as this and the price is dirt cheap if you can get one used and quite reasonable new. If you are playing heavy metal or hard rock and need a pedal that will give you a tone for these types of genres, this pedal is worth a definite look.
